  1. Merry Christmas. Baileys Coffee for breakfast and then preparation for eating my own weight in cheese...ho ho ho.
  2. Today’s job was mostly admin and finally putting up some shelves for the hand tools and climbing gear. Edit: I don’t own this gear. It’s the company tools.
  3. Any sign of getting the 161 back at some point? I was waiting until 2nd gen battery saws were out before I got one but errr pleased I didn't! I was told there is some kind of modification that can be made so I’m guessing that means it’ll be returned. I never really questioned it as I was desperate for a replacement at the time. I hope I do get it back though, it was incredible...plus there’s 3 batteries on my desk not doing anything.
  4. Taking out a few limbs on this Monterey Pine that were damaged during some high winds. It was lovely until the heavens opened...Back to using a petrol top handle too after the 161 was recalled. I miss the battery saw.
  5. Been walking around 10 acres of Woodland looking at storm damaged trees but came across this bad boy. Shame it’s not summer but I never come across Black Poplars and was in awe of this specimen.
  6. Well I had loads of fun driving through a nice bit of wasteland. Creating new tracks for a future composting site. The Hilux did very well.
  7. It’s called “click bait.” Ridiculous thumbnail images to make you click on the video for viewing ratings. YouTube is infested.
  8. I got a reply from the Forestry Commission for those who are interested...
  9. Is this pretty common then? This is the first time in 6 years that I’ve noticed it.
  10. Evidence seems to point to Hylesinus Fraxini going by that document. Thanks again for this, very good reading so far.
  11. I almost want to berate you for sending me a 100 page document. But what I’ve read so far is interesting. I will endeavour to finish it tonight. Cheers Edward.
  12. No not at all bud. I didn’t find it condescending. I genuinely appreciated your reply.
  13. Cheers Gary, it was still in leaf in the summer but there was serious decline 80%. The stem was uneffected and still had plenty of structural integrity. My initial thought was Chalara but this tree was different from the others that I’ve seen with die back.
  14. Can someone help me here. I worked on a dead/dying ash and the crown was incredibly brittle. The crown had small holes and bore lines beneath the bark. Evidence points close to EAB but the holes are more rounded plus the bore tunnels don’t include secretion. It was really infested. My knowledge is limited on this type of thing. Can anyone help?
  15. Yeah loving it mate. Not uprated the springs yet as it’s just been used for tools and towing the MEWP/Trailers. The 4x4 system is amazing though, I’ve been through some horrid terrain and it just pushes through really well.
  16. I thought it was Thetford. Pretty sure I’ve seen this tree or something very similar in town.
  17. I tie mine on a bungee strop and have it hanging off the basket. I wanted a holster/permanent scabbard but I think it would take up too much space.
  18. Dead Ash dismantle today covered in ivy. The top of the canopy was covered in wood worm like burrows possibly EAB? The tree was incredibly brittle until I got down to where the stem birfurcates at 7 meters. Anyways, 16 degrees today and it’s was lovely even though the hired in MEWP decided to break down and leave me in sky for half an hour...
  19. Yeah it’s not often when I don’t enjoy my job and that day was certainly “one of those days” To be honest, I think I was a bit careless too just because I wanted it to end so badly but that’s just bad work ethic in this trade otherwise I wouldn’t of broken that BT line. I should’ve waited until the wind died down abit. I did manage to find a picture back when I was quoting for the job though which puts it in a better perspective. You can hardly see the BT pole.
  20. Today’s job can go straight to hell. Heavy reduction in heavy rain and pretty blustery also. BT pole with 16 lines and if you count 15...yeah...I fluffed one. I thought I was out of the danger zone when I cleared the pole but when I was bringing the top out on the other side, I threw branch down as a gust hit. It took 13 billion years to finish. I didn’t take a pic before I went up. Only when I messed up.
  21. We’re not climbing yet. We’ve started a new tree team within a big housing company. H&S don’t want any climbing until they have all the necessary H&S...things. So in the meantime...just cherrypickers, pole pruners and fells.
