  1. Actually not too bad in Norfolk. Kinda bright outside 2 degrees showing from the truck. Shame I’ve got everyone on training!
  2. Hi guys, So I’m coming to the end of a employment campaign within the company I manage. I will be hiring 2 teams intially and then the possibility of a third team later in the year if we secure enough external contracts. At the mo...2 Climbers and 2 Groundies. 1 team will be based out of Ipswich and the other near Norwich. The third will probably end up near Cambs if all goes well. I’m just putting the feelers out there to see who would be interested. Once the additional plant machinery and trucks come in then I’m ready to hire. All positions are full time and permanent. Mon-Fri 7:30-4:00 Overtime is available also. There’s a lot more information available and if you want to know, just hola at me. If I write it all down on here, you’ll get bored of reading it. Just shoot me a message on here for now. Once it gets signed off then I will need CVs and interviews. Would just be nice to talk to you first and gives you plenty of time to ask more from me. Anyway, heres what I’m looking for in each person... I’m recruiting for safe working individuals with experience within the Arboriculture Industry. The applicant is expected to have a minimum of 2 years (proven) climbing and cutting experience or 1 year of ground based experience. Excellent communitive skills are essential as you will be working closely with operatives of whom will support your role. 3. For real. It’s proper cold here in Norwich
  4. Thank you @Khriss that’s what I needed to hear.
  5. Hi Guys, So the possibility of hiring new arborists seems evident in 2019 as the company I manage is looking to expand. We’re only at the stage of talks with the board of directors but they seem keen to inject a substantial sum of monies for new employees and equipment. Of all the years I’ve worked within this sector, I’ve always considered tree surgery a highly skilled role. My main interest is mixing young starters with more experienced operatives. I believe in retaining good staff members with competitive pay awards also. Would it be acceptable to have a starting wage of 20k-22k (approx) in East Anglia providing I supply everyone with everything (tools, climbing gear, vehicles and plant) and to keep them refreshed on forestry first aid and cs39 every 3 years? With regards to the more experienced; I’ll probably just negotiate a wage that’s preferable to them personally and take an average so not one of them is paid more than the other for the same job. We review pay often and all wages could jump up considerably in the second year for being valued employees. Would this be appealing to my future applicants?
  6. I got a reversing camera for my TGS Hilux since my mirrors are useless after the conversion. Spent Xmas morning realising I’m not good with wires.
  7. I look forward to your hangover
  8. I hope there’s black walnut in that manger.
  9. Merry Christmas. Baileys Coffee for breakfast and then preparation for eating my own weight in cheese...ho ho ho.
  10. Today’s job was mostly admin and finally putting up some shelves for the hand tools and climbing gear. Edit: I don’t own this gear. It’s the company tools.
  11. Any sign of getting the 161 back at some point? I was waiting until 2nd gen battery saws were out before I got one but errr pleased I didn't! I was told there is some kind of modification that can be made so I’m guessing that means it’ll be returned. I never really questioned it as I was desperate for a replacement at the time. I hope I do get it back though, it was incredible...plus there’s 3 batteries on my desk not doing anything.
  12. Taking out a few limbs on this Monterey Pine that were damaged during some high winds. It was lovely until the heavens opened...Back to using a petrol top handle too after the 161 was recalled. I miss the battery saw.
  13. Been walking around 10 acres of Woodland looking at storm damaged trees but came across this bad boy. Shame it’s not summer but I never come across Black Poplars and was in awe of this specimen.
  14. Well I had loads of fun driving through a nice bit of wasteland. Creating new tracks for a future composting site. The Hilux did very well.
  15. It’s called “click bait.” Ridiculous thumbnail images to make you click on the video for viewing ratings. YouTube is infested.
  16. I got a reply from the Forestry Commission for those who are interested...
  17. Is this pretty common then? This is the first time in 6 years that I’ve noticed it.
  18. Evidence seems to point to Hylesinus Fraxini going by that document. Thanks again for this, very good reading so far.
  19. I almost want to berate you for sending me a 100 page document. But what I’ve read so far is interesting. I will endeavour to finish it tonight. Cheers Edward.
  20. No not at all bud. I didn’t find it condescending. I genuinely appreciated your reply.
  21. Cheers Gary, it was still in leaf in the summer but there was serious decline 80%. The stem was uneffected and still had plenty of structural integrity. My initial thought was Chalara but this tree was different from the others that I’ve seen with die back.
  22. ...dear lord!!!
  23. Can someone help me here. I worked on a dead/dying ash and the crown was incredibly brittle. The crown had small holes and bore lines beneath the bark. Evidence points close to EAB but the holes are more rounded plus the bore tunnels don’t include secretion. It was really infested. My knowledge is limited on this type of thing. Can anyone help?
  24. Yeah loving it mate. Not uprated the springs yet as it’s just been used for tools and towing the MEWP/Trailers. The 4x4 system is amazing though, I’ve been through some horrid terrain and it just pushes through really well.
  25. My little Tippa
