  1. I was thinking today how useful it would be to be able to perform x1 single arm pull up for tree work for those awkward positions you can't get high enough to get both hands round a stem or whatever. There was a time I could do 16 wide grip pull ups so I would bet I could have done x1 single arm pull up at that point in my life. Anyone capable? If so, how useful do you find it?
  2. You can't see from the pics but I almost entirely had to ropes being used at the same time. At 1 point I had 1 lanyard on a branch above ( I say above, more like above but 10 behind me) and another fixed to another branch and then round a cambiam saver so I could pull myself in or out to get to different places. The problem was the all trunks spread away from each other so there was little point in finding a a high fixed position cos you could only work that particular trunk from it anyway. Dunno, I'm learning rigging which MUST help. I did enjoy climbing though, I mean actually climbing with no tension on ropes cos often none could be had. I fell too, which was a confidence booster in an odd way.
  3. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xyaue1r52sg4oln/20181203_142031.mp4?dl=0 Another video of me moaning and bitching. Had to cut a large branch out that was rubbing with another so obviously no pruning point to be had, it just had to go. Customers weren't there when finished so no idea what they think but they bettter be happy cos I am not going up that ****er again lol
  4. Just spent another full day faffing around. 1 hour getting a branch stuck in the crown out and some finer touches. Still not 100% happy with it but I did what the TO told me to do... Might not take on another one like that unless I can figure a way of rigging the whole damn lot with rope and pulleying myself around the tree.
  5. I am never felling a 300ft tree. Some other sod can do it lol
  6. Yeah looks good. Dunno where I'll fit it though. Gotta jo beau in the van. It'd have to go in the trailer somehow but that is problematic whcih I'll show you a pic for the reason later.
  7. Reading your recommendation of the art or rigging right now. Gonna do an hour a night. It's a bit much. Not in a bad way. It's just ultra complicated to comprehend from a text book.
  8. Anyhow Kev, just did an hour or the art of practical rigging and OMG that is overwhelming. So much involved it's ridiculous. Did just learn how to tie a bowline with 1 hand and eyes closed in 2 seconds though. Remembering how to tomorrow is the problem. Just gotta keep repeating and repeating. Will start with anchor hitches to the mrs arms and legs to the bed posts I think ? That ultra expensive book you recommended.... can it be got in a library?
  9. Yeah I was thinking it'd have to be slowed. I'll have a practice some time soon with some light limbs off a conifer or something. Get my head round the basics.
  10. I'm sure I'll get it in the neck now for talking about another thing I have no experience of but I've been doing some thinking on this and in the correct environment I'm sure it can be done. Haven't worked out the logistics yet of course but surely a well set up pulley system could allow you to dismantle and have logs just run straight down a line and into a trailer bed. I'm sure there are many occasions when this is not viable for many reasons but my question is, is it viable? And how viable is it you reckon? Ta

  12. Ropes were damp so wore no gloves. What concerns me is I can't clench my fists without pain. Feels like leg day but for the hands....
  13. i appreciate that and yes I'm 3/4 through a bottle or port. L-) I never meant to offend anyone. Honestly, I didn't. I react to be told it can't be done. My sincerest apogogise, even to Dempsey who at least say it as it is.
  14. Got ya! ? And thanks btw. That pushed me close to my limits if I'm totally honest.
  15. Dunno what you mean mate. Do you mean anchor hitch a rope from say 2 sides of the tree and then just absail from one end to the other off a lanyard so you can go low or high and cut as you go?
  16. I asked for help but got let down so was ultra worried about it for weeks. Then I figured Fu** it, I'll do it anyway.
  17. Can't tell if you're having a dig or a compliment. No offence. Lots of people on here seems to like to put you down so apologies if you're not having a dig.
  18. 3 meters off the top of the crown, reduction in width to 14 meters from 18 meters. Crown lift and dead wood removal.
  19. Some videos of the job during the day and at the end of the day. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pnjy5t8wqyx695s/20181130_103251.mp4?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/vfpqb8ezk4xm1l2/20181130_151739.mp4?dl=0 I'm absolutely done in. Dropped the bloody cambian saver trying to move to a higher position so double lanyarded for about 4 hours. The other 3 hours were pissing around with and ivy laden trunk. Every single damn rope and pulley, and peice of equipment got caught on something.
  20. Could do but it's a tight fit over those rubber ends. I have to twist and push to push the rubber through. It will wear away eventually. I guess I could just maybe heat it slightly to to kinda round the lip of the rubber edge but dunno where that leaves me regulations wise. Only me climbing so only me dying so perhaps doesn't matter so much if I "tweak" ropes etc but dunno...
  21. Didn't work today. Was wet and windy as hell and my sliding door on my van broke. Had to but a bolt on lock to keep it secure. Fitted it between the front door and the sliding door like a total twat so now the lock has to un unlocked for the passenger to get into also and then re locked to secure the sliding door afterwards. Back to the drawing board on the weekend I guess. Wot an idiot.... Great bolt though. Gonna get one for teh back doors too.
  22. I think this is the option. I just don't like leaving the zigzag up there. Perhaps could camouflage it somehow.
Used twice already last week. Nice guys. Easy access and very friendly.
  23. No problem.
  24. Meant to thank you for this btw. Tip site within 2 miles of my address and guys are sound and can take as much as I can give them. Save me $$$
