  1. B and Q ?
  2. What do you mean? I personally won't disturb Birds, we have a code of conduct in which each case is dealt with. Even crows , jackdaws, magpies these are pests in respect of the schedule covering Pest All alternatives must be considered . Never heard of anyone getting prosecuted, but there could be a first.
  3. Cheers
  4. Hi, We get many calls about bird nesting i.e. Roof spaces, facial boards. Not trees ! Rule to thumb, if eggs and chicks back of don't touch as mother bird can leave and not return . Starlings are now protected for sometime now. As you guys are dealing with trees ! You may not see the droppings splatter marks! We do on houses and from this info we can determine to a degree what type of birds may be causing the problem. We do check and explain to the house occupier the nest has chicks and most agree to leave well alone and let them hatch. If the occupier says get rid, We decline and walk away.
  5. It is in best interest not to harm bees, however we can kill bees if we have to. But in all the cases I have dealt with have not killed any. If you come across bees get in touch with bee keeping association and ask if they have a local bee keeper, see if he or she wants the bees, and ask if there's a charge to come out and collect them. We do have a bee keeper co ordination for Manchester who does come out to collect bees.as we will keep them . Remember bees won't sting unless severely stressed or threatened as they will die from stinging you ( not very reassuring when up a bloody tree ). We have bee vacs to collect them or we handle the queen into a Nuc box and within period of time the swarm goes into the nuc and we collect. The downside is it's can delay your job. Remember Bee coordinator have good info and most will help if they can. Cheers Nick

    Information?

Hi all nick the newbie here, Hope everyone is well! Within the tree surgeon and grounds man job, do you have say a method statement or something that would be used to say how a particular job would be done? In pest control we use method statements, but like all jobs it flexible to accommodate the job you are doing. Do you guys have such a systems? If you do could you point me to we're I may read such information. Secondly I've noticed on videos and companies sell PPE you wear boots, helmets and trousers, with the appropriate chain saw status, but this may seem daft question what do you wear for the top part of your body? Cheers Nick
  10. Hi all, been watching various videos you guys have been putting on you tube, when you use the rope to pull yourself up the tree, do you wear something on your boots to assist the access up the tree? Sorry if it seems a daft question. Getting itchy feet whilst I recover from my operation and save my money, out of curiosity would attending say a climbing wall in doors give me any help on how and what is used in the tree surgeon job! Rope and rigging kit ? If it is called this? Would it be beneficial or should I wait ? Cheers Nick Newbie

  23. Hi everyone do all trees have TPO on them? What is the procedure for cutting a tree down? For instance if my neighbours have a large tree and it over hanging on next door property I assume you ask the owner of the tree if they would mind if the over hang can be trimmed and the trimmed branch be offered back to the owner of the tree? Do you have to involve the council Cheers Nick Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
