  1. I bought one from tool station, little draper number, around a tenner. Seems to be consistent with what I would expect moisture wise when testing.
  2. This is a Hawthorn stump last week, had been felled by another firm previously. Used a mix of proper stump shields and ply boards cut and cable tied to fold. Shop windows and carpark in close proximity. Done with a Rayco RG25HD which covers the work I do, I would highly recommend if you only want one machine. Will make a review of it on here for anyone who hasn't used one.
  3. Amorgard make very secure lock boxes, cheapest place to buy new is equip logistics, online, fast delivery aswell from memory. Cant peel back the lid like on inferior boxes aswell. They make one the perfect size to fit into most crew cab tippers if you take the rear seats out. On a mark 6 or 7 transit you'll have to take one door off to get it into position, but that only adds to security.
  4. Always questioning ways to improve my business, looking at other options rather than just sticking to what I'm used to. Before buying another truck I want to know I'm making the right decision , that I haven't missed anything. This forum has proved brilliant for this. For the foreseeable I will stay with the transit route.
  5. Hi Carlos is the works 130 used solely for commercial or off road stuff. Do you do any domestic with it? Cheers Phil.
  6. Being a small set up don't want to have to keep ploughing money into it. Transits in my experience have been pretty good on that front, but have a very small payload smaller than a land rover.
  7. Greatly appreciate all these replies obviously a good time of day to catch people. Looks like staying legal would be easier with a 110/130 as the boxes are smaller and can't be sprayed as full as a transit. I have a large ally box on my lwb transit and questioning if I'd miss it, but don't want to get nicked and want to stay legallegal obviously. Nice set up Kevin, unfortunately wouldn't work for what we do. Like the 101 on the roof, could have one man sat on chair strapped to the roof and do roadside hedges with it reaching off
  8. Essential bit of kit in my opinion, any bits of stone flicking off the grinder and under the visor are cushioned
  9. Hi Mick Thanks for your experience, I've seen one of the local firms with one but never towing a chipper maybe thats why. Be good to hear from anyone who's had any other experience of them , or set theirs up differently, who might have a positive view of it, or weather it's just a not an option.
  10. Hi all, I'm knew to the forum, I've lurked for quite some time, and found arbtalk to an invaluable tool and wealth of information. I've always had transits, but am know looking Into a single cab 110 or 130 hicap tipper. Obviously being a 3.5 tonner there will always be issue with legality, this aside for a minute. How capable is a 110 or 130 tipper as a weight carrier. Is it a viable chip truck ? What sort of weights of chip could be carried without causing damage?
  11. We use a combination of the quazar modular stump shields, which look professional, are light and hardwearing, and can be pushed into the ground if windy, saves using stakes, expensive for what they are. Or 1/2 inch ply, cut into three strips, drilled and cable tied so they can articulate. Hinging them like thst means they don't blow over. Nobody wants to nick them and there cheap to replace from council timber recycling place £7.
