  4. Had 8 stumps to grind today and whilst out there working was thinking about this thread . . . . I love my job! I work hard and will work 6-7 days if required however I work hard so I can enjoy myself with my wife and little un whenever we want, we like a holiday or 2 and go out for meals regular etc. Anyway point being I was thinking today would I rather be here grinding stumps or at a wedding with the wife and little un having a few Guinness and spending some quality time which you can never get back?!?! Choice seemed easy I would have done the wedding rearranged the grinding! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. How's the swap gone guys how are you finding your new bit of kit and how do you compare them both against each other now that you have used them both?? I purchased the ZZ mk3 weren't keen at 1st but love it now 1 small tweak made though, I use a 20cm strap with mine so bridge krab strap ZZ it means I'm pulling my rope through the ZZ rather than from above and tending from below! Works a treat and the ZZ is still close enough to descend and move around without over reaching for it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. I did an off road marathon in July, the amount of training I had to do was horrendous! Back on the mtb bike now and the gym in the morning before work. Good luck with the races if you get back into it!! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. All presumptions and hot air. Tut tut tut. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Of course we do they are under our stretchers . . . . . What do you think we are? British!!! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. So who is fit enough physically and mentally? Apparently the UK is not, not enough stretchers, tourniquet' epi pens, butterfly valves (collapsed lung), burns dressings, anti histamines and butter ....... Sure there is lots more to be added that list that we do not have enough of!!! Thread, tangent, off the scale oh speaking of scales we may need those to weigh a possible casualty for emergency doses of something else we don't have enough of. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. Start Where we are now. Tangent? Definitely!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. This thread has gone wayyyyy off on a tangent!! Think it may be easier if it becomes law that every arb company must employ and be accompanied by a trauma medic and surgeon. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Nice!!! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Just out of interest how many of you guys train/work out as well as climb/work? If you do work out what do you do and how often? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Just thought I'd remind everyone of the original question as I am getting pretty bored of reading about who's the best surgeon now. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Fair play mate, in those situations 90% of people will flap and not know what to do trained or untrained!! I know in the UK because of our NHS fast response ambulances will get to you before you could get to an A&E in most cases, (providing your in an area that can be accessed by the emergency services) so best practice would be to keep the casualty alive until someone more qualified gets to you. I can't comment if that would be the same in the rest of the world because I haven't experienced it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Being ex British army a tourniquet would be your only option in that instance also once applied stopping the shock and keeping the casualty calm is a better resource than trying to lift and move the casualty onto a stretcher then moving them on a stretcher towards an ambulance that will already be on its way to you. You could potentially do more harm than good moving them causing shock from the pain. It takes 6 men to carry a stretcher effectively with regular changes to keep the carriers fresh, unless you have morphine to hand the casualty will probably pass out from the pain of being moved, bad idea!! Battlefield 1st aid is a great skill to be taught for an instance like your suggesting and unless you are in an area which 1st response can not access you would not move them on a stretcher. Also talking from 1st hand experience. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Pretty sure in this instance by the time you have them strapped onto a stretcher they are dead anyway?!?! Surely your time would be better spent trying to pressure/stop the bleed. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Thanks kc. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. Yes I am going to go mechanical ZZ, LJ or SJ3 not sure which yet? Does the LJ self tend the rope? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. What do you both think of the ZZ and LJ? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
