  1. Anybody noticed this story? Britannia could be recommissioned to boost role as world leader on free trade, 10 Downing Street says I'm surprised there aren't more people kicking up a stink at the idea of spending tax payers money on a super yacht in these times of cut backs and austerity...
  2. Saw this on a farm today. Nice looking machine..

Devon Hedge Group - Get Involved | Hedgelink We're doing a 320m hedge in the South Hams at the moment, might enter it into the Devon Hedge Competition if it turns out ok..
  4. Similar to the bilke guillotine processor: I've always liked the look of them for doing small diameter logs and slab wood...
  5. I came across this when I was researching buying my alpine: Help!!! I broke my tractor in half!!! - Tractor Forum Also heard rumours of this happening to someone local to me. Imagine it must be a fairly rare occurrence though.
  6. Cheers for that info.. Puts it into perspective
  7. Same. I was going to wait till the APF to buy new saw and replace boots and trousers but might go for it now!
  8. Just what I was about to ask... Is it time to invest in any new kit before the price of imported goods goes up? I don't know how quickly that happens when the value of the pound drops.. I suppose it will effect timber prices fairly immediately tho?
  9. Thanks for the info. What do you do about setting the teeth Agrimog?
  10. What sort of kit do you use for sharpening BigJ? Do you think the ones that Norwood and Woodland Mills supply would be up to the job? I wasn't sure wether if you send it to a saw doctor they will do a better job or if they just put the blade on the same machine I could buy for £600.. Blade Sharpener (Automatic) – | Woodland Mills United Kingdom And when you refer to setting does that mean adjusting the angle of the tooth for hardwoods or softwoods?
  11. Thank you :thumbup:I'll give him a call. I think I'd rather send blades off to a professional rather than fiddling around with them myself
  12. Just wondering what everybody does about getting their band saw blades sharpened. Does anybody use the automatic blade sharpeners sold by Woodland Mills and Norwood or is it better to just send blades off to a saw doctor? I'm contemplating buying the little LM26 from Norwood and just wanted an idea of the cost/hassle of blade maintenance. When I've hired a mill in before I think I was charged around £20 per blade we used. Thanks in advance.
  13. Chip wood price? Around £25/tonne roadside. I think it's ok firewood just needs to be really well seasoned.
  14. My first post on arbtalk - been looking at the site for ages and finally decided to join. Thought I'd start by sharing some pictures of my tractor. It's an old Carraro Tigretrac with a 3 ton trailer and 4 ton uniforest winch. Great for getting into the woods without making too much mess and going into places bigger machines won't fit. I hire the digger in for brash burning and throwing logs around when needed!
