  1. It literally fell into my field[emoji23], heavy.. this trunk weighed just over 1 tonne! Tractor on front wheels only[emoji6]
  2. Made a start, 3" slabs from here on in?? 700mm wide , 3m long Stupidly hit the screw holding the ladder in place on last run.. need a serious sharpen first.
  3. Some walnut today, out of a windfall tree.. got the big trunk to try yet..
  4. Glorious day yday, just finishing base for slab under new house, sun just gone
  5. What will that be used for?
  6. I better not post the pics I have on here from post mortem. But I found this in the stomach of my best lamb (now dead..)
  7. I am a farm vet so see plenty of casualties.. mainly youngish cattle and sheep..

    Thanks for all the comments. Quite exciting, I wasnt expecting anything really, just a trial on a new wood for me.. Going back tomo to look for some more solid pieces in the pile of walnut...

    I milled this piece 70mm thick, just in case somebody wants to have a go at carving a gun... It looks.a piece of art on its own.. All done and put under cover...

    Not really, because the boards are only 115cm long thought it was better in proportion. More options with 40mm boards than 25mm? All new to me. Only bit of hobby[emoji2] Neighbours asked for a piece to make some knife handles. I am thinking chopping boards, serving trays, mirror frame/surround. Anything not too complicated.. I am a farm vet, not a carpenter[emoji15]

    How thick should I mill for that please? Want to keep my options open.. Might find some more lumps in the pile of felled timber.. Thanks

    Very nice bit of walnut (115cm long, milled at 40mm, another branched bit to do yet.
  14. 2 'working arbdogs'.. Milling downhill is so much easier[emoji2] And milling at waist height is lit nicer for back too. Keep learning as I go..
  15. Redish when fresh cut, pale when dry next day[emoji6]

  18. Made a start today. Well pleased[emoji106] Must remember to wear goggles next time. Fair cut at 3.9m long and 65cm wide. 076 runs out of juice 2/3 in but choggs through it nicely. Few more to cut and stack[emoji6]
