  1. ...Black Forest? (might as well keep it arb related)
  2. Tell us more about the Russian ballet dancer!
  3. If you're going to leave a band at the road edge for last, be aware of the microclimate of the area, as high winds could potentially take some of them out while they're not sheltered by the rest of the stand.
  4. Balding with a ponytail, and shirtless.
  5. I think he was alluding to a 55 yo man who set himself in fire in a Stockholm plaza on Fraday. He was a white man, most probably a native Swede (watch the video) holding a sign that read "I am 100% sane - the secret police are killers!!" From what I could see, he looked like a pissed off liberal.
  6. Bringing the perp to justice will be a long shot, unless they can get a confession. What a scumbag....
  7. Site generator strapped to the drawbar running an electric motor?
  8. Isn't lawn sand Iron Sulphate? Hence the rust coloured stain? An agri-store guy told me never use Iron Sulphate on tarmac to kill moss, because "You'll never get the stain out"
  9. I'd guess its been tried a million times! Id say it wouldn't work though as the reading or divination would be "contaminated" by base desire. It only works when the the dowser, or deviner seeks information which is academic, that is to say, to which he has no personal attachment. The location of someone else's pipe, for instance.
  10. It works on the same principle as a pendulum or Ouija board, the nervous system recieves information from the unconscious mind and moves the hand-arm muscles which move the rods, but it feels involuntary because the conscious mind tricks itself into being sidelined. What dowsers are actually doing is tapping into universal information, but they don't realise it. If you experiment with it, you can "find" abstract things, like the location of missing people and even knowledge of future events by asking the visual amplifier - the rods or pendulum or whatever, Yes or No questions, and use a system of elimination to arrive at answers to all kinds of stuff. Potentially very dangerous for the experimenter. As long as dowsers think it's about magnetism and stick to finding pipes, they're safe enough...
  11. We (the royal we) noticed that as well, replayed it four or five times. When he gave Gorsuch the podium his expression was .... Like pulling teeth. On much thought I take it this way: Gorsuch told him in no uncertain terms that he would, if confirmed, not be Donald's bitch. But he would (will) stick to the constitution. Maybe he also gave the Don a bollocking, who knows? I take it to be an indicator of maturity that Donald nominated him anyway, knowing that Gorsuch won't give him a free pass, simply because Gorsuch is the best nan for the job. Trump knows it's bigger than him, and did it anyway even though it obviously hurt his ego. Makes me like him all the more - if I'm reading it the right way, that is.
  12. Yes but like what Donald said to the media (lying media) my post is immaterial to everyone except butthurt liberals. I've already moved on with my life and don't have any recollection of it nor any desire to go back and analyse it. Or anyone else's, for that matter. Or any need to remember which side of the issue anyone is on. It simply doesn't matter to me, because the political world is moving in a direction of which I approve.
  13. Not that I'm one to talk, having only done three trees so far - but - make yourself a strong telescopic pole with a hook on the end. 3 foot to 6 foot painters pole would be ideal.
  14. Good grief, I feel like Jeff Sessions facing the Dems at his Senate hearing....I don't even remember my post, seems it left an impression though. I get the feeling that you sense conspiracy going on behind the scenes? Or maybe that's just me, projecting. What on earth does it matter who my intellectual collaborators are? They could be a think-tank of sociology PhDs, or they could be the cats.
  15. I was most likely using the "royal" we.
  16. To be perfectly frank, Eggs, I don't have the attention span to keep a running mental spreadsheet of who said what and which side so-and-so is on. There's probably an app for it, but I can't be bothered. I just read the posts, take a glancing look at the poster, and move on or reply to the content if it interests me. I don't keep score on internet forums, just couldn't be bothered. Maybe that's not the way to to do it, I don't know, never did a course on web forums, just kinda feel my way through.
  17. A family friend who's a brain surgeon says he almost never sees a patient on the operating table who was waring a bicycle crash helmet. 95% of bicycle related casualties were not waring a helmet, he says. So important. Ware my stein, minus the visor and muffs, for everything now, even going up a step ladder.
  18. Just following my thought a bit further - rather than saying people's egos are invested in their position on immigration, lets rephrase it and say that their sense of identity and self-image is tied to their politics, and the rawest form of politics, the immigration issue, cuts to the quick. Some folks (not necesarrily all) may hold liberal views on immigration in order to make themselves feel good. They may fear that they have racist tendancies lying dormant, and if they admit to themselves and others that they don't like the Islamic culture and are actually none too crazy about refugees, it would be letting the genie out of the bottle and they might discover things about their own personalities that they don't want to. Or they know what lurks beneath, and consciously keep a tight lid on it by reinforcing the defence of immigrants. It could be like a guilt thing. Psychology is complex. Maybe that's why the hate for outspoken trolls like Milo et al - its not the views of the right that frighten them, its the feeling that they might actually be racists themselves. (Stubbes out cigar) - "That'll be £200 thank you, see you next week at the same time...."
  19. Names have already been filed with the WCRFD (world central racist fascist database). Of course I'm not going to name the butthurt, why add insult to injury? I mean people generally, on here, at home, in our communities and in the public eye - there's a general trend of private awareness and public denial. That's what I suspect to be the case anyway, coming from my own experience of once being a true believing hippie to gradually being a closet Deplorable surrounded by militant hippies. And recently noticing that some of my most staunchly tie-dye acquaintances have changed sides.
  20. I'd be interested to know if anyone has tried climbing in Vibram 5-Fingers.
  21. I get the feeling most people actually do smell the coffee at this point, but they've committed a certain amount of ego into their political position and its hard to shift now, without losing face.
  22. why not run a flood light on a pole off the battery from your grinder?
  23. How many of you guys use RADs I wonder? - where you're hanging from a gri-gri with a hand ascender and pulley combo up ahead. When tie-in point is reached, the ascender can be left there, and you can then limb walk on something very much like a DDRT system with the gri-gri replacing the zigzag?
  24. Just throw this in the circle... [ame] [/ame]
