  1. If the tree was there before the hotel.....tough titties and boo hoo to the owners.... Seems more like a rubbish excuse to fell a perfectly healthy tree, sometimes as 'professionals' it's incumbent on us to act like professionals and advise accordingly.
  2. I think it's probably more true to say that it's sweeping the tabloid newspaper and Facebook nation......
  3. Hmmm doesn't quite add up in my opinion, in both pics the trees look in pretty poor condition, both in the fore and background, indeed in the second pic the 'farmer' has fenced out the sheep from the tree in the back ground. Added to this grass that looks like a bowling green, I stand by my assertion that animals and trees rarely mix well
  4. in my experience animals and trees dont mix very well at all, in the first two photos i would certainly fence them out, particulary the horse! The compaction, browsing, bark stripping, eutrophication etc will only hasten the demise of the tree.... so shade is a good thing but only when managed well, which most farmers/large landowners tend not to do......
  5. Countryfile is presented by idiots whose idea of the countryside is to simply perpetuate the belief that all farmers are custodians of the wonderful outdoors.....whereas they are mostly all money grabbing, subsidy grasping destroyers of vast swathes of the outdoors and the species that inhabit it.....but apart from that, hey let's get a quote from another subsidy grabbing NGO.....you can tell I don't rate it much .......
  6. Many thanks everyone for the replies, I think it's fair to say that it's a somewhat difficult task given my vagueness! Apologies for that but I appreciate the discussion and it has helped me with providing guidance to a client
  7. thanks for the guarded clarification.......a supplementary question would be if there was a dispute or if the niggles couldnt be worked out then would the recipient have to accept?
  8. some advice and/or interpreation of the regs would be gratefully received on a sensitive issue relating to LAs serving TPOs on government department owned land. I wont go into details however is it feasible for a gov dept to refuse a TPO? a collegue seems to think is correct however i am doubtful if the hive mind can help i would be very grateful! many thanks in advance

Countryfile is for the country as the Sun is for journalism.......
