Taking bookings for the March onward at the moment and a few odd days in Febuary We come as me, a competent climber, Forst TR6 tracked chipper, L200 tipper, and groundys, brash dragger's. So I'm all set up now, my domestic business is slow and most of my work is subbing as a set up for other people. I'm perfectly geared up for site clearance, woodland and site maintenance and management. I want to source more of my own work, I advertise in the usual places. I am considering directly approaching local businesses with grounds with woodland. Health Spa's, schools ect. And basicly trying to offer a better and more cost efficient service. Any body done this successfully? I guess its all about finding the right person, facility's manager. But how to go about it so you're not just another cold caller?

Always fancied an ex SSE truck they have some nice hilux with winches and the defenders with the roller shutters are very smart too. Never found any searching

Yes and no. I bought it at 500 hours, I've now put 60 hours on it. Redwood have come out once to reseat the lower roller, as it was rubbing the housing. Been having problems with the rollers not shutting completely for a few days, its crap wrapping round the top roller axle and then preventing it from sliding down the slots properly. Seems only to be a real issue when chipping hedgerows hawthorn/blackthorn ect, which we have been doing a lot of this week. But even once that's cleaned off, there is debate whether or not the rollers are still slightly too far apart. Also it tracks slightly to the left. To be fair Redwood have been fairly good about coming out. I do worry however as this is my first chipper and it's either going to make or break my bussiness. Forst do have a mixed reputation, I just want to get everything sussed and sorted while it's still under warranty

Its a bit of a long shot, but, I'm trying to track down the previous owner of TR6 serial number ending 069 Just trying to get some history on my machine as there have been a few issues and as its an early model, I'm hoping it want re sold to me by Redwood after taking it back due to some failure or other. Cheers

More the point I aint got 700 quid to spend on a winch! Planning on getting a cheap ebay one. Redwood said it will only fit a warn though, which I'm not sure about

Redwood want about £100 for the mounting plate and tried to sell me a 5 and a half tonne winch to fit it for about 700 quid! I was quick to point out the chipper weighs 1.3 tonne

Might not quite be what you're after, but I will come to sevenoaks with my TR6, L200 tipper and my saws and climbing gear for £230 a day. Al Old Mill Tree care and Will Heal have both used me like this. Not available until the end of the month however. Cheers Tom

Planning to fit a small winch to my TR6. Just for emergency if it gets stuck, or the odd branch stuck in a bush Just a cheap ebay jobby, something like this Wireless Winch 12V 2000LBS 907KG Remote Heavy Duty Electric Winch ATV Boat Truck | eBay Any body done this? I am assuming without looking that the chipper will have a 12v battery. And as long as the machine is running it won't draw to much current. I will let you know how I get on any way.

I felled this lump this week, was a laugh. Climbed it the day before and put to wires round it. BT came out and dropped a line for us, I used my 661 with a 28 inch bar, a small tractor with a extractor winch and another line with a turfor (no idea of spelling)winch was also used. [ame] [/ame]

As I say the firm I used to work for sold all their chip to stobarts and it was but big pile fed by all kinds of different chippers from Hizohack down to various 6 inch TPs and everything in-between, and was stored uncovered. So must be a use for that kind of chip somewhere

The farm where my lock up is has a new biomass boiler, they buy in a large amount of G30 chip. The farmer and owner is sound and we get on well know him for years, he was happy and keen to let me tip off my own chip into their stores. I'm only a start up outfit and will only be tipping the occasional tipper load of chip, I have a Forst TR6. The engineer however got his knickers in a twist about taking my chip as it has some greenery in it and it was smaller than the chip they buy in. Any one know what grade my chip is? And whether its really going to do any harm to the boiler mixing in the out tipper load of my stuff, into 50 odd ton of their bought in chip? Firms I have worked for sell chip to stobarts with all kinds of leaf material in it.

I've not had the tipper on it very long at all, love the L200 in general had greedys on there before. Its a great job by MCB in Birmingham, although I did discovery today that they chopped the trailer socket to wire the lights in and didn't replace it, and they did did take a month instead of the quoted 7-10 days. And they did skimp on the paint, but over all very pleased with it! Great combo with the tracked chipper, but very capable of road. Will get some more pics up soon

Helped out Will Heal today for the first time, nice bloke. Bit of woodland path clearance with the TR6, good day, back on Friday.

Trailer tipper 2000kg Hydraulic ram 1.5m x 3m Heavy duty | eBay Had my eye on one of these for a while, good for timber and overflow chip, was thinking about mounting a little crane on it. Any body got a similar one? Or dealt with this company?

I say dive in! That what I did, only passed my aerial rescue a year ago and now I'm a confident climber with some big jobs under my belt. Still loads to learn but it's an enjoyable curve. You will struggle to get the 5 days a week work, in that respect I'm in the same boat, give me a PM maybe we can help each other out
