  1. Anybody got any tips on getting bags of logs on transit tipper without having to handball them haven't got a big enough budget to buy at tractor e.t.c was thinking possibly a engine crane if high enough ?

  12. i'v been asked to fell some trees for firewood its a thirty acre site full of mixed trees the plan is to fell all pine trees and then thin all the remaining hardwood to a tree every 5 m eventually... what permission does the land owner need to do this anything i need to be aware of thanks

  15. looking for advice iv just passed my level 1 rope access and looking for a point in the right direction of where i might be able to find some work i already have cross cut and maintance Arial rescue and firstaid looking at doing my pts and felling small trees next. can anyone tell me of any other courses that would help me get employed any companies to send my c.v to e.t.c thanks jonno

  18. i have started working for a one man band as a subcontractor and he doesnt seem to know how this insurance thing work i currently have 5 mil public liability but i am under the impression that when working for him if anything happens it will be claimed through his insurance as i am working under his instructions .... i am also looking to take weekend work to a new level and we have come to the agreement that he will help me do the job with all his gear van e.t.c but it will be the other way round if anything happens it lies on me to deal with can you tell me if i need any other type of insurance other then public liability with cover for bonerfide contractors
  19. just wondered if any of you have any thoughts on rope access i am currently 23 self employed groundsman floating around between companys since i started last year i have been very lucky to never struggle finding work. i have started climbing and will be doing my certs soon. i have started looking into doing my irata level one /rope access. just to keep me as employable as possible has anyone done the rope access and know what the money is like ? how hard it is to find work ? if it is worth it ? how much is a start up kit i.e rope harness e.t.c any advice would be appreciated

  21. you have a good point there hodge. but the industry is changing we cant use rakes to push that last bit of brash threw the chipper. walk more then few feet with out turning of your saw yet nothing is questioned about climbing a slippy sycamore on a muddy bank!
  22. talking to a friend tonight about work telling him what he can expect working outside i.e heat wind rain. got me thinking is there any guidelines arb approved contractors are suppose to follow when it is raining ?
