I'm not sure what is available in your country, but in mine dogs can take Alprazolam, which is Xanax. It works great to calm a dog down. One of my regulars takes it before every groom and she is like a different dog when she takes it. I can't groom her without it. If it were my dog, I would also put him/her in a comfortable crate and cover it with a blanket. My own dogs prefer to stay in theirs if they are scared or we have company. They view it like their own little respite.

When it's raining buckets, we say it's raining cats and dogs or just pouring. The main shut-off would be called the water main. I am no plumber though.

I have twin nieces, my brother-in-law stayed home while his wife worked. I had a daughter a little older than them, and remember what he went through. Here are some things he did to make life easier: Ferberize them. I did it with my daughter when she was older, they thought it was great and used the Ferber method with the twins. Tin foil over the bedroom window, nap times at specific hours. Both were sat in bouncy seats and he would sit in front, feeding them their bottles at exactly the same time. When they could sit up, both were eating in the highchairs at the same time. Give them a bath at 9 p.m. every night, with lavender. Then put them to bed and let them cry it out. There are many other tricks he had, but these are the key ones. Do everything at once or you will be feeding, changing, bathing non stop for the next 2 years. Let them cry it out so you can teach them a routine and that it's ok to be unhappy. Let someone else care for them one evening a week so you can go out with your wife.

Brekkie (heehee, never said that) was an Isagenix shake Lunch was from a strange little restaurant owned by an oriental woman named Bonnie. I don't even know what I had. A little triangle of pastry filled with curry flavored something, some very seasoned veggies with tomato and egg plant, a bit if quiche with spinach and tomato, and a little round fried thing. May have been sweet potato. Bonnie is the best cook I have encountered in my 37 years. Teatime (lol again, that's dinner here) will be Napa Valley chicken salad. This is white chicken with a creamy dressing, grapes, celery, and cashews. Very yummy. A mango GT's kombucha for a treat.

It's pleasing to the ears, confusing to the brain tho. I think part of the reason there isn't as much slang used in the U.S. is that most everyone is incredibly touchy now. Anything remotely funny or off color is seen as racist/derogatory/discriminatory. Instead of calling a Brit a Limey, we would just say the fella is British. I have never heard the word Limey used in every day life.

Thanks for that tip. I recently lost my favorite peach tree to canker. Is there a secret remedy for it? Some of my other stone fruit trees are dripping amber colored jell from their spots.

I can't think of any insulting slang for Brits, but they are renowned for their teeth. Maybe it's odd, but I have been fascinated by David Bowie's teeth since I was a teenager. Fascinated in a good way.

Not sure if it's a passing fad, but for the last two years I've seen braided fruit trees for sale. The trees are always three kinds of a similar fruit, such as a Jonathon, Yellow Delicious, and a Granny Smith. I haven't bought one yet because the strength of the trees when grown is suspicious. It takes five to ten years for the trees to fruit nicely, and if it is destined to be a wasted effort I don't want to try. I have a start from an extremely old Crabapple, it insists on growing as a trio. I wouldn't mind braiding them, what are your thoughts about the long term strength?

Is a Proper Haggis a type of animal? Just kidding. Something you should never try is a buck in rut. Awful!! I made a meat loaf out of it and our dogs would not even touch the thing. Best keep the meatloaf doe or another kind of meat.

My sister-in-law brought some stroop waffles (sp) back from the Netherlands once, I would love to try some freshly made ones. Blood sausage, haggis, maybe even gifelte fish.
