  1.:biggrin:Richie, That could almost be the definition of over-sharing!!
  2. Thanks. It would be much easier if I got my kicks from tiddly winks and watching telly!
  3. No i've not done any mountaineering for a while, but off piste skiing won't help!
  4. Richie, I will look at CIC cover, but when we got quotes before (10yrs ago) it was way too expensive (because I did winter mountaineering), I will ask for a quote but I think it might be too much.
  5. Thanks pete, if L+G ae too high or rwfuse me I will try them.
  6. Thanks Stephan, that gives me some idea of cost.
  7. Hi, Anyone got any advice re getting life insurance cover as a climber? I have just passed my aerial qualifications and started work as a climber, I have life insurance ongoing based on my previous career (not in arb) and have just informed Legal and General of my new career, and awaiting their response. From what I have read some companies won't cover you at all, others have limitations on what they cover. What sort of monthly premiums are people paying? I was paying £15 pcm. Are there any companies that are easier to deal with? Thanks, Jan.

I have cs 30,31,38 and 39 and driving license and transport. I live in fife and am looking for work. Private message me and I will give you my mobile no.
  9. Just to add I passed my tests on Friday, thanks for the advice beforehand. I felt I was very well prepared for it. Cheers.
  10. Thanks charlie, I might well try to arrange that, just gotta work it in with family life! jan.
  11. Russ, Thanks for that tip. Think I have a Sigg bottle kicking around my gear cupboard. I might well be filling it with hot water too as it might be a bit chilly in mid-feb up here in the North east of Scotland.
  12. Thanks Coletti, I will practice my knots as some mentioned I have never used. The theory I should get from the NPTC guides someone else linked to this thread. I'm looking forward to the training, but not the assessment! The advice from all this has been very helpful as I am doing this off my own back and don't have anyone local to ask about all this.
  13. :thumbup:Thanks Richie and Jack. if I can find an excuse to come past pitlochry I'll give you a shout.
  14. Craig, Thanks for the NPTC docs. I will dig out a bit of rope for practising some knots.
  15. Thanks Jack. I don't know of anyone nearby to show me the ropes! I have the Jeff Jepson tree climbing book. I have rock climbing gear (and 20yrs experience using it) so could set that up on a tree, but I'm not sure what set up is likely to be taught in my assessment. jan.
  16. Hi, I am booked into my CS38/39 courses in mid-feb, any advice about how to prepare prior to the course would be great. I've already started doing pull-ups/press-ups:huh and trying to get a bit fitter. Thanks.
