I don't see why people diss like electrics.
Hydraulics can be as much of a menace as electrics.
Repairing a wire is much quicker and easier to fix than a burst hose, or sticky valve.

HI MATE on that note im out of the deal thanks jon
Sweetie money to a man of your calibre

Jon saved his money and just went with the tw10 splitter in the end...

Too wet for pellets. Needs to be sub 10%.
Mine goes for horse bedding. Horsesy folk love it, as there is little to no dust.
I charge £10 a bag and it flys out the door.

Under 6k rateable value don't pay business rates, probably 5% of log yards only pay, I'm one of them!
I also pay.
Iam looking to take on a second yard, and paying twice will be a bit of a killer.
I want the business to grow, and its hard enough in this industry.
If there is a legal way to keep my overheads to a minimum, iam interested, if not, there is less of an incentive to expand.
-
But that's the OP's point isn't it? He wants to class it as forestry or have I missed his point completely?
I want to class it in a way that I don't have to pay commercial rates etc.
I want to process firewood, and keep my overheads to a minimum.
-
l/a cant define that either
Haha, ok.
Do you pay rates on the buildings then?
From my understanding commercial buildings pay rates, forestry doesn't?
-
i never said it was foerstry
for storing, sawing up.
define that, the l/a tryed and failed,
So your commercial?
-
Is it possible to have a yard, for cutting firewood, classed as Forestry, rather than Commercial?
If so, what type of activity do you have to undertake to be classed as Forestry?
-
Dont import condoms from Russia, they have a tendency to split. Made to a poor standard.
Just incase the firewood wasnt working out..........

Does the current trade embargo between EU and Russia allow us to buy from the Russians? I know we cant sell them anything but not sure whether we can buy from them?
Yeah, we can buy from Russia

Hi, are any producers doing logs in nets wholesale in the south yorkshire area? I am looking for them to sell on etc. mixed nets , hardwood, or softwood considered, don't have to be kiln dried. thanks. Luke
What quantity you after?
-
depends on the wood
-
Impressive. Worth the money?
I looked at the star type screens, but not dipped my hand, yet
-
I do bagged and loose.
9 out of 10 new customers buy in bulk bags, and if they can accommodate loose tipped, I then promote that for the next delivery.
This time of year, I have alot of customers who buy 1 bulk bag a year, mainly for Christmas. Its usually a winner, because I end up getting the whole street to deliver too.
-
definitely spend some time/money on a bag frame/hopper
what size potato boxes? and what size bags?
Standard 4 foot x 6 foot boxes, holds approx 1.7 cube.
I use 900x900x900 bulk bags
-
700 cube good luck it's going to get boring.
Didn't i read you were considering stacking logs in crates?
G50 wood chip, any good?
in General chat
Posted
I have been asked on several occasions to produce G50 spec chip.
Being a firewood merchant, iam not all that clued up on whats good and whats not when it comes to wood chip.
Not 100% sure what boilers want/need.
Here is a few pictures of what my machine produced, any thoughts/comments would be much appreciated.
Iam not sure if this is of good enough quality?
