  1. I have been asked on several occasions to produce G50 spec chip.

Being a firewood merchant, iam not all that clued up on whats good and whats not when it comes to wood chip.

Not 100% sure what boilers want/need.

Here is a few pictures of what my machine produced, any thoughts/comments would be much appreciated.

Iam not sure if this is of good enough quality?

  2. Under 6k rateable value don't pay business rates, probably 5% of log yards only pay, I'm one of them!

    I also pay.

Iam looking to take on a second yard, and paying twice will be a bit of a killer.

I want the business to grow, and its hard enough in this industry.

If there is a legal way to keep my overheads to a minimum, iam interested, if not, there is less of an incentive to expand.

  3. But that's the OP's point isn't it? He wants to class it as forestry or have I missed his point completely?

I want to class it in a way that I don't have to pay commercial rates etc.

I want to process firewood, and keep my overheads to a minimum.

  4. I do bagged and loose.

9 out of 10 new customers buy in bulk bags, and if they can accommodate loose tipped, I then promote that for the next delivery.

This time of year, I have alot of customers who buy 1 bulk bag a year, mainly for Christmas. Its usually a winner, because I end up getting the whole street to deliver too.
