  2. Hi guys, I'm looking for work in Essex, just relocated to chelmsford. I'm a hardworking and determined grafter. I have CS30, 31, 38, 39 , first aid, full PPE, full climbing kit, top handle and ground saw etc. thought I'd put an ad on here to see what comes of it. My number is 07766660818. If anyone has anything I look forward to hearing from you Ben
  3. Hi, Is there anyone in Essex that subs as a groundie, with truck and chipper? I'm a Subbie that occasionally gets own work and am looking to find someone who can provide a chipper for the odd day here and there . Cheers, Ben
  4. Cheers fellas, does the notice have to be in writing, as you would for 211 notice ?
  5. Hi guys, seeking some help on how the law affects the following, couldn't seem to find anything on here regarding this. I've just got a job come in that involves a small woodland, privately owned but within a conservation area. Two dead beech stems which I believe can be taken down under the DDD act and so no notification has to be given to council? Additionally the client wants any major dead wood to be removed from some oaks on this land that could be a threat to the kids that use this area for paintball. He's looking to do this ASAP, but I'm unsure on whether deadwooding can be done in a conservation area without waiting potentially six weeks. Any help appreciated
  6. Would you take any unchipped waste by any chance?
  7. I started two years ago, aged 17, earlier the better I think! Go for it dude

    Sketchy job!

Cheers for the advise, managed to finish the job today with a bit of funky rigging. Couldn't let the tree defeat me!

    Sketchy job!

Thanks all. Wouldnt have worried about the lines but they span across the entire main road, which is my only drop zone.

    Sketchy job!

No he says he doesn't believe in rigging kits beyond a ten pound poly rope! I was told to start lowering off my climbing line through the cables!
  11. Hey guys need some rapid advice on a job I did today. Started a pretty sizeable roadside plane pollard, roughly 60/70 ft. Seven phone cables under the crown, windows, three plastic roofs, cars on the pavement etc etc. I've been subbed the work, new guy I haven't long worked for. He's sent me with no rescue back up, traffic management, rigging kit or such. I'm edging towards walking from the job after some near misses on the groundies part. There's no way of getting the stuff on the ground without taking out any cables and the boss refuses to arrange a line drop. What would you guys do? Cheers

  14. I got one. Use it most days, go pro do a 'grab bag' full of mounts, there's a curved helmet mount in there that works perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  16. It's nothing too challenging, the assessors are essentially looking to make sure your doing things the safest way. So no rush! Good luck bud! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  18. Two oaks today, customer initially wanted 50%! But after some subtle persuasion settled for 30%. Bit of a battle against the clock on these! Forgot to get a 'before' on the second tree! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. I use a swabisch on my hc. Quite a compact knot, and doesn't sit back too much. Might be worth giving that a go... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Yeah, I mean it's been machine washed, got nicked a while back so had to cut the splice off. But it's pretty thoroughly cleaned. Only used a couple times. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone in the Essex area splice ropes? Have an oldish second line which I'd like to get spliced. Just throwing it out there. Cheers Ben Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Tidy reduction, nice one I like it! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Point taken there Steve. Shall pass it on to groundsman. 😉 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Agree with you there Tony, to a large extent this was down to compromise with the customer and what he wanted, as is so often the case. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
