  1. Not quite right you should really have either assisted fell or felling of standing of standing stems but again a stem over 380mm would require 302 (cs32)
  2. Cs32 is now called 302 and at the moment you get 1.5times and 2times guide bar felling soon it will only be medium trees at 1.5 times guide bar as large trees ie 2x guide bar is going to be a separate course again as far as the win blow goes it's now called 302 and combines single and multiple wind blow along with storm damaged felling ie standing stems I run courses all the time no issue on sites etc
  3. Husky 560 will handle and the Stijl 461 will take up to a 25 inch bar but the 441 also will handle it up to 25 inch Stijl 362 takes upto 20inch bar hope that helps
  4. http://Http://www.ukfisa.com/about-fisa/about-fisa1.html
  5. It's not clear at the moment but having had a good few meetings it seems if we were contracted into to deal with Ariel work ie dismantle a tree then fell the stem our lantra/nptc units are fine as we are not undertaking commercial felling arb work on FC sites as far as I know will never have to be fisa as fisa is only commercial felling FC may want to see evidence of update or refresher training I hope that helps
  6. As far as refresher training goes it is only a strong recommendation by HSE that a semi professional user should be every 3 years ans a professional user should be every 5 years how ever you are best to check your insurance as you may well find it's void if your competency levels are not refreshed at the above timings.and yes fisa refresher is only for commercial forestry and the FC /FI will not accept lantra
  7. That's very true mainly forestry based but there are 1 or 2 of us that are both
  8. Then that is very disappointing up here it's all commercial forestry instructors when it all started we had to prove that we were or had worked in the commercial forestry industry
  9. It's not training as such more a look to see how you go about actually working on a site from setting up the site to felling if your tickets are out of HSE recommended timings then the commission and there contractors will only recognise fisa and no other!!!!!!!!! The fisa assessor will then decide if your competent or not all fisa assessors are from forestry back grounds
  10. If your not that keen on climbing at the moment then 301 (cs32)would be best at least with that you can fell any tree in girth as at the moment there is no upper limit but that is due to change in the near future also first aid is a must and it is expected that all chainsaw users hold at least the basic qualification in addition a chipper ticket is also a good one to have it all helps to make you employable
  11. The Canadians have many different techniques they use in order to deal with storm damage some are very clever but as far as the training here goes it's felling cuts type determined by girth of tree for leaning or hung up and on the ground wind blow it's varying step cuts and winches the new suit of wind blow is now called 302 and deals with all that and also assisted felling
  12. The ISA is home study too and is an internationaly regognised certification around the same price too work book around £80 assessment about the same key thing is that say there were 14 subjects and you pass 13 you only have to resit the one you failed rfs is full pass or fail learning value is good but it is home study what ever one you choose if you need help or materials to read let me know if got a lot even question papers,You could always think about doing the PTI course its a lantra course with certificate
  13. it could be welded take it to a blacksmith m8 its alloy so it is possible
  14. Any srt system used must always be backed up and there are many ways of creating a srt system from a hitch climber and vt system backed up with a petzel buddy a foot pantin followed by an assender with a long foot loop on it which is also conected to the bridge in or the system i like is the rope wrench vt hitch climber combination backed up with a buddy having the rope wrench on allows desent as well as assent i can even be retrieved from the ground or converted when in the canopy to the normal climbing system i can post pics if required
