  1. Hi guys Hoping someone can help. We cut timber for firewood only (so no felling involved). Mainly we get timber in that is up to 20inch diameter. Occasionally, we get some stuff (like beech) that is quite big - up to 2-3ft diameter. I have a husky 254xp which can deal with the small stuff; looking for the next step up for occasional use. Can anyone recommend a good saw - and more importantly, has anyone got anything to sell? Thanks in advance
  2. Hi, Anyone know of any timber haulage companies operating in and around East Lancashire...? Thanks

  7. Hi All, We're looking for hardwood and softwood wood - unseasoned that we can cut and split ourselves. We're based in the Burnley area, Lancashire. I've had a look at the Woodlots website but all the posts seem to be mainly from the SouthEast, making haulage costs quite expensive. We are willing to pay for haulage but ideally would like somewhere more local. Would anyone be able to point us in the right direction? Many thanks! Foze
  8. Lime it is! Thanks guys.
  9. Hi, Got offered this tree for Firewood from a neighbour. Can someone tell me what it is please?
  10. Hi guys, Just wanted to say thank you all for your contributions. The bloke who made it was kind enough to come and fix it. It was the pump - too big. A smaller one from flowfit has done the job. Probably not giving us the tonnage we wanted but at least its working fine! Cheers

  16. Hi Guys, Thanks for all the advice. To clarify: The engine does not cut out when on. It only cuts out if you take the ram all the way in or then push it out all the way. It also cuts out if it encounters wood(!) almost like its scared of the stuff! The bloke who sold it said that if I fit a new Hi Lo pump from flowfit, it should work. Is this correct? As I don't want to throw more money at it. It has a Honda Engine, starts first/second time, 8.5hp. Engine seems fine. I can't tell what pump it has on it, although I think the make is Ultra. Pics to follow.
  17. Thanks Rod, The splitter has a 8HP Honda GX240 Petrol engine according to the bloke who made it. The Ram moves up and down VERY slowly, and will split a few small pieces. Anything bigger and the engine cuts out. Even when moving the ram up and down, without splitting, it feels like the engine wants to cut out.
  18. Hi, Bought a homemade log splitter recently that has a petrol engine coupled with hydraulic pump. When buying, the engineer (who made it) said the pump was not giving out enough pressure and to change the pump. Currently, the engine cuts out when trying to split logs. Does anyone have experience with these things? I'm looking for someone to come and have a look at it for me - based in Burnley, Lancashire. I'm available on 07790 904133. Thanks
  19. Thanks guys. Most of our stuff is around 15-25 inch diameter. Is it worth going for something as big as a 372/390? Will a 357/362xp be too small? And do you guys recommend buying off eBay? I know it depends on condition, but what prices should I be looking at? Apologies for the million questions, but I've been in a flux for several weeks over this! Thank you!
  20. Hi guys, New to the Forum, and although I've searched the threads can't quite find an answer I'm looking for! Wanted some advice on buying my first chainsaw. Not really doing any felling, but more working on the ground. Ringing and logging of max diameter 3 foot trees but alot of the time maybe smaller stuff like 20 inches. Will use it on average 3 days a week. Maybe 12 hours/week. Was thinking a husky 365 but is it more than I need? What would people recommend? What bar length is best? Has anyone got anything they're about to sell? Thanks in advance.
