  1. Thanks for the feedback fellas. I will check out the Husky and compare. Quite a few BR600s with low hours on e bay which makes me wonder why people want to sell them with only slight use.
  2. Im looking for a late used BR600 Magnum blower. Just wondering if anyone has compared these up against the Echo PB770 or Redmax 8500? Reviews seem to say the 600 needs the valves adjusted every 100 hours but the Magnum version has updated valves and doesnt require such frequent maintenance. I guess the Echo and Redmax are a simpler design at the end of the day but the Stihl looks light and quite. What shall I go for fellas?
  3. Took the saw back today and the chap took it apart. Two small metal fragment fell out of the cylinder. There was no sign of any damage to the new piston, rings, or barrel. He inspected the crank and bearings etc and all are sound. He thinks they might of got in through the exhaust as that is the only item he didnt initially take apart. The fragments look like old piston to me. Anyway he took the exhaust apart, cleaned it up and reasembled the saw. Its back up and running now:001_smile: Thanks for all the input guys.
  4. Shush, dont give anymore away. I thought the coverage was also poor, alright for the anoraks I guess but I thought Parrish and Cox brought the whole experience to the masses. As a result even my Sister now understands the benifits of anti wheelie control:001_smile: Great race though, and would have thought that "ooops sorry" would have gone down so early.
  5. Thanks mate Ive bookmarked that.
  6. Surrey Rich CR3
  7. Barrel and piston, with free prawn cracker, 52 squid!
  8. The rotor is sitting on the key shaft as it should. Its not the rotor as the cranshaft still jams with the rotor removed. It can be heard banging against something when turned. Whatever it is its a full stop clockwise or anti clockwise. Ive only looked at the piston through the plughole and doesnt look damaged. I reckon Ritch could be right. The circlip has come out and maybe the pin. Will be up to what the saw is worth if I have to pay out again!
  9. In one way I hope your right Ritch as he would be obliged to supply and fit another barrel and piston as Ive only used it for a day or so since getting it back. I know they werent genuine Stihl parts but was assured the pattern stuff were as good as. Will take it back tomorrow and see what transpires. Thanks for your input lads.
  10. The pull cord is ok. I took the rotor off the crankshaft end to make sure it wasnt fouling anything. Put the nut back on the shaft and it will only turn with a socket the same amount as with the rotor on. I was thinking myself it might be the piston circlip come adrift but wouldnt that just fall into the crankcase without fouling the crankshaft?
  11. No the pull cord only comes out about 4 inches once only.(the one revolution) of the rotor and then stays stuck. It doesnt start as its not fully turning over. The piston goes up and down as to the one revolution with the plug in or out. Not sure if the new piston/barrel were not fitted correctly or if its just coincidence that its happened directly after the repair. Dont want to lay blame where its not due.
  12. Just had a new piston and barrel fitted to my 020t. It worked fine for a day or so then went to start it and the pull cord had stuck. Took the cover of and the rotor will only turn one revolution both ways. It sounds like the crank is banging on something. The piston is going up and down with the plug out so wondering if anyone got any ideas before I take it back to the repairer. Many thanks.

  16. <p>Hello mate - You could free tip here at my place in Woldingham if you like, CR3 area. I would have collected it but short on time at the moment and got a sticking brake calliper on my van. Call if interested 07802 258986 Jim.</p>

  17. Then serve the bacon to their wives:lol:
  18. Ive had one from new, it was an insurance pay out to a mate who had all his gear nicked so I bought it off him still boxed. Had it for about seven years now and use it on my 3 acre plot. I had a later type carb fitted so no adjustment but it starts up fine runs all day and ticks over till it runs out of fuel. Its getting heavier as I get older but great for logging, and reliable.
  19.

<p>Hi, sounds ok. I could bring a chain saw anyway if too heavy to lift (bad back). </p>

    <p>Have you got a contact number?</p>

    <p>Cheers.</p>

  20. Yes thats been going on for years with tha scrap yards and salvage yards in on the scams. My car was stolen in a raid and later found by the police after I had been paid out. The insurance company wrote it off as the cops had to break into it and it had a damaged wing. The salvage yard wouldnt sell it to me as it was a write off. Six months later I get a letter from the DVLA asking me if Im the registered keeper or have I sold the car?? Sooo if it was going back on the road why wouldnt the salvage yard sell it to me. If the salvage yard has the contract with the insurance company to collect the wrecks the any old iron brigade steal the cars, cause light to write off damage, store them long enough for insurance to pay out then park them up (in my case airport car park) wher they will be found by police and recovered to salvage yard. Salvage yard does cheap repair at cost re registers car and now has legal car to sell to open market. Any old iron scumbag gets paid out by salvage yard and on to the next one. Not much damage is needed to write off 4 to 5 year old Mercs Beemers etc and the repair parts cost nothing when there wrung off other stolen cars. I think its been going on for years ever since the insurance companies stopped offering the customer the option to buy back the salvage. As for chainsaws, chippers, trailers, diggers etc being stolen I think that has definately increased since on line auction sites sprung up. Most people outside of the relevant trade wouldnt previously known the value of machinery or even bothered finding out. Now you can drive past a bloke up a tree clock the model of saw on the ground run it through your phone and get the value. These days I think like they think and as a result spend most of my time bolting everything down or selling it before it gets stolen.
  21. Its definately increasing and the forums are probably contributing. The scumbags read the forums as well. They see us complain that nothing is done about it, just a crime number issued, they know they will get away with it. The any old iron brigade have become much more audacius over the years and rural communities are anxious all the time now, at least the ones with machinery. Ive been done countless times and I know its them. Parliment needs to know this is a seious epidemic. Cameron needs to know there not interested in "were all in this together" The law needs to harass them and keep harassing them. Im fed up with this soft EU approach to human rights. When did an MEP ever do a days proper graft. Im thinking of selling up as Im virtually a prisoner in my own home too woried to go to work or go out. How can that be right.
  22.

    <p>Hi</p>

<p>I could possibly take it in an Iveco Daily.</p>

<p>Im just up the road in Woldingham. How small are the cuts?</p>

    <p>Cheers Jim</p>

  23. Cheers Mat, sounds like you have a nice set up there. I had an 8x5 Ifor trailer but just a tad too small for the digger. I say had as in past tense as some scumbag nicked it just before Christmas. I guess your flatbed weighs a bit less than a plant trailer.
  24. Hi Mathew - do you mind me asking how you transport your 3 tonner? I have a KX71 3 tonner but a 3.5 trailer with the digger on is over the train weight of 5.2 ton on my van. A 7.5 ton will only carry 2.7 ton payload. Wonder what the train weight of a Defender or similar is?
  25. Shame - a pot of tar, a sack of feathers and a displaced knee cap used to sort the weasels. Ah well, even the "certain members" seem to have sold out their principles.
