  1. If it helps the bark was a greyish colour and was plated. Should of got photos I know.

  5. Anyone be able to ident these for me please. The brackets were on the base of a Norway maple. The tree had a lot of deadwood on the canopy, about 65-70%. I've looked through a couple of the books I have and don't recognise it. Any help would be great cheers
  6. Hi all, I'm after some help on where to find info on fungi decay strategies., sapwood exposed etc....Is there a decent website or book that I could look at, I'm currently doing a table on fungi and can't find much info. Cheers.

Id personally like the tree to remain where it is,but with the decay as it Is,is it not better to fell and re plant a tree in its place for the future ?.how long really does this tree have left living in the health n safety culture we live In.plus I think when the time comes to take it down,we will take it down to ground level,grind it n there will be nothing left,no monolith,or anything else,as a lot of people don't tend to think that way,well not were we are.

This beech tree is down for a 30% reduction.just wondering what people's thoughts were on that?,would it be better coming down or a harder/lighter reduction .here are some pics of the tree itself and of the Picus test. the beech has been reduced fairly hard in the past.its in a church,next to multiple pathways.cheers.
  17. Large beech tree coming down today, gonna have tonnes of wood, won't be able to give it away free, but it would be cheap, any one interested we are at wantage gardens in Plymouth, be here all day, the 25th.
  18. We came across this today, looks abit like honey fungus?, but not sure.it was on a grass verge, one part was growing out of a dead ash, the other about a meter away, out the ground.3dead trees on the verge in total.
  19. We were working in a cem today and we spotted these around the base of the tree, a Lombardy pop,looks like they are growing from between the buttresses.cheers for any help.
  20. Been passing this beech for years, it's right on the side of a country lane,first noticed meripilus around 3-4 years ago, took these photos a couple of weeks back, they where still pretty small..
