  1. Sorry what a tit based in skelmersdale west lancashire. Big Steve I'd rather process the stuff myself but that said if you really stuck for timber I'm sure I could help you out. im looking more to wholesale it really. Ste
  2. Hi, got a shed load of joinery waste coming next week that we're gonna process to kindling. Haven't really got a lot of storage so looking to keep shifting it. Anyone interested p.m me. Thanks, Ste
  3. Hi, does anybody happen to know someone with a harvester that covers sw lancs? I've an area I want to clear fell and don't think we'll get time to do it with the saws. Thanks, ste
  4. Some log boxes advertised on the farming forum, £40 each. Don't know how good they are but maybe worth a look. Ste
  5. Hi, what are people paying for softwood cord at the minute? TIA ste
  6. Hi, as a purely hypothetical concept (for now), what would be the effect of spreading manure in my woodland? I know if I spread some on grass it makes it grow more, would it have the same effect on trees? Has any research been done into this? I'm not for a second advocating ruining decent woodland running all over it and leaving a foot of s##t behind, but could a sensible amount spread from rides be beneficial to the growth rates of my tree? Any input appreciated, ste
  7. Gray git yeah its classed as industrial, can do what you want afaik, chip can be tipped in another part of the yard as well, so can soil as well I think. The rates and that are included, as is the container but there's no leccy Ste
  8. Hi, was just wondering what sort of money people have to pay for yard space/parking up places. I'm thinking something proper within a secure yard, shipping container included, area about 40m x 20m. What's it worth weekly? Cheers, ste
  9. Hi lads, I've a shed load of small pine (most under 10") to drop. My smallest saw at the min is a 346xp, I don't need to comment on that we all know how good they are. As you can imagine most of my day is spent snedding, I'm wondering weather it's worth me splashing out on an ms150 for this kind of stuff. I can still use a bigger saw for dropping them if I feel the need but I'm thinking the light saw will be easier on my back knocking the pegs off. Just lookin for your opinions, all comments welcome. Cheers, ste
  10. Thanks to ewd ripper who came and got some timber off me last week, a good bloke to do business with. Still got a trailer load of rounds to shift if anyone fancies them. Ste
  11. Got some rounds and logs left over from my cutting if anyone needs any. Ste
  12. Trouble is graham, to get the cord delivered to your yard could easily cost £38 per m3. You need paying for processing it. Is it sold at £55 a cube or £55 for a builders bag round you? It's about that, may £60 for a builders bag round me, but that's only 0.6m3. Ste
  13. I think you'd need £55 per m3 to do any good. Could do with being more but the retailer will want his cut too Ste
  14. Hi, who to folks use to haul cord round? I'm trying to get some moved from Wigan to Chester and need someone reliable. I've worked with loads of hauliers over the years and had most types of wagon you can imagine but I don't know anyone with a timber rig. Can someone point me in the right direction? Cheers, ste
  15. Thanks for you replies lads, when selling by the m3 do you sell by the size of the actual stack or do you use the formula to get the actual meterage of timber without air gaps? Also if anyone is interested in taking some timber let me know, I have plenty to go at and may cut for a couple of weeks. If you let me know before hand I can cut to whatever length you want, I can also deliver if your not to far away. Thanks, ste
  16. Hi, I'm dropping softwood trees next week, all processor size. What should I be charging for it? Was thinking of charging per m3 as there's no weighing facility on site and a few log men wanna collect themselves. Any idea appreciated. Thanks ste
  17. Hi all, In the next couple of weeks I'm gonna be dropping some softwoods, mainly scotts pine. Because of the site I'm just gonna cut them up where they drop and cart out with the quad. I've no space to store them so want to sell them green, they can be sold as rounds or I'll split them as we'll if you want. I can sort delivery by 8 wheeler in 16 cube loads. Any body care to give an idea of what it's worth? Anyone interested in it? Theres no vat to pay either which will suit some. My site is located in the outskirts of Wigan. TIA, Ste
  18. I've done quite a bit of reading on this site about billets and I'm still undecided weather it's any good or not. My timber is coming out of my own wood so was wondering if it's best to take a splitter in the woods and process down to billets to haul out. What's people's opinion? Cheers, ste
  19. The site is in winstanley, I can also deliver locally with the tractor. Would anyone be brave enough to give me any ideas on prices? Ste
  20. Hi, been lurking for a while but decided to join up to hopefully pick the brains of the forum. I'm ste, do land drainage as the day job but also have 45 acres of woodland which I'm gonna do some work on over the winter. My question really is what would be the best way of selling the timber? I've a few acres of clear felling and loads of heavy thinning so there's a few ton to come out. There's quite a bit of softwood but plenty of hard too. After reading this forum I'm not sure the firewood job is for me so was thinking of just selling as cord. Although I may do some kindling out of the softwood and wholesale that. Any one on here be interested in some of it? Or know any buyers? It's located nr Wigan. Tia, ste
