  1. Jewsons builders gloves. Rubber stuff on palms. £1.00 per pair + vat. As good as any similar types that are £3-4 pair.
  2. Possibly Tufnol, but more likely to be Edam or perhaps gruyere. Hope this helps.
  3. Is there a Claire Rayner or Jeremy Kyle type forum this post could be moved to. Just read through it and lost 10 mins of my life. I don't know any of the parties posting personally, but I believe the phrase, you can't help those who won't help themselves, springs to mind. Tin hat on.
  4. 20 minutes chipping up for a 4' x2 1/2 foot slab of yew. It'll make a superb coffee table top. One day.......
  5. Used corrugated steel sheets. Couple of quid each from scaffold firms. They seem to have a clear out of bent/ damaged ones from time to time. Typically 2.4m x 90cm, two sheets over some 4x2 screwed down, double up one end for water run off.
  6. Thanks for replies so far. In answer to a couple of questions, with regard to which email programme, it's whatever one is on the ipad. Not sure if you mean my website host or what. I'm a proper techno retard. The other question, about attaching a document, it's ok for the odd one or two, but I'm finding that too longwinded with loads of correspondence to get through. Hoping for magic answer..............
  7. Work related question.... Would anyone have the foggiest idea how to get your letter head onto your email. Instant emailed quotes etc. without word doc, scanning, printing, posting and so on............. Any ideas greatly appreciated
  8. Compressed briquettes soaked in paraffin.
  9. As mentioned on a previous post, set up as a limited company, independently from core business. This is easily done through, for example, your accountant for 150/ 200 quid. Register for vat. Enjoy benefits of 20% vat refund on all company purchases. Charge customer 5% . In our case making a .75 cube bag £78.75 instead of £75.00. No one will complain at an extra £3.75 on a bag. We've had about 18 months of running the business this way. Initially it was a bit intimidating with the scary vat business. It has however proved to be a good move and apart from a bit more paperwork, straightforward. Dare I say, it can also make you look a bit more professional!
  10. Freelance climber required odd days here and there. Generally plenty of notice. Most of our work around Hertford and Ware (Herts). Nice friendly bunch. No stress. Call Matt 07950 284947
  11. Does anyone use any form of eye protection other than a visor. I'm fed up with fine sawdust in my eyes when sawing in windy conditions( yes, the chain is sharp!) I have tried a few pairs, I'm looking for something that doesn't mist up after about 30 seconds. Any recommendations appreciated.
  12. If they're ok to load side by side, we use two scaffold tubes on the tines, thread through the loops and off you go. Speeds up the filling process no end. One journey, two bags!
  13. First post, so go easy on me....... Has anyone with a chainsaw bar type firewood processor experienced the chain coming off. The chain on mine ( hp2x ) goes loose after a relatively short period ie an hour or so and if you forget to tighten it, obviously deep in the processing zone, it flings itself off. Any thoughts appreciated.
