1. I'm not sure if I can bolt a 3 point linkage boughton to the back of the major, as the pto shaft needs to have the female spline to slide in to, I think the linkage model have shaft and keyway sticking out, so the search continues
2. Ok cheers, been watching ebay but nothing turning up
3. Hi just wondering if anyone has got a boughton winch they want to sell any winch considered, cooks, Darlington, it's to put on the back of a major:biggrin:
4. I was going to buy a table from a DIY store but nothing took my fancy, so I made one it is an old metal work lathe bed and I put some oak cross boards to screw the top to its about 9foot long and about 32" wide so with the lathe bed it is extremely heavy but I don't plan on moving it, the boy is giving it a coat of linseed oil he likes a job. I've got some more douglas slabs I'm willing to sell if any one interested URL=http://s1086.photobucket.com/user/woodcutter3/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsf7e4ab9d.jpg.html]
5. My new garden table URL=http://s1086.photobucket.com/user/woodcutter3/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsf5a0fe21.jpg.html] 3" slab of Douglas fir
6. Any one ever use horse chestnut for turning? Is it any good? Im thinking of using some for a stool.
7. Cheer's for all the good comment's. These are best I've got, never done anything with green heart, it's quite good on the lathe you cant tell from photo's but it's polished up a treat.
8. Not to bad if your on flatish ground, you've always got the independence if your struggling to turn
9. Take it easy on me im a total beginner at wood turning but I have an old coronet elf lathe and I wanted to have a go at making something, I had some walnut and rob,d off here gave me piece of green heart so I made a chunky stool, the top is 3"x15" . which tested my little lathe:laugh1: cheers for the wood rob.
10. This is my 995 had a bit of a repaint, service and ready for work:biggrin:
11. Ive got a lot of rubbish soft wood gate and strainer post that need replacing, some have been put up 4yrs some 7 but all are rotted off at the bottom so ive decided to cut some oak they are a bit rustic as I cut em free hand so I got a turn this into this
12. I've got one of them nice little tractor to drive with power steering: and here's a couple of others and the old major [been sold] pictures seem big
13. Ulrich still have all the info on these, only they will need your model number, but it is very simple to strip down. take off back plate and you will see all the workings take off the chain and remove a few circlips and withdraw the shaft and bearings, bearing's are common size, on mine the shaft was scored where the seal run so I lathed the shaft and bought a new seal to suit, replace and seal up back plate and job done
14. I might be interested in your 4ton if your looking to sell:001_smile:
15. don't no much about 390 have they got a pto clutch, as you will need to be able to stop the thing pulling,
16. It's better if your tractor has a single clutch, I don't know what your ford has.
17. Anybody got a 3pl tractor winch for sale around 5ton capacity, don't mind if it needs new rope or a few bearings etc,
18. there's an oil level plug on same side as brake lever in the back section, and there's another one on the other side next to round plate, it's cheap so it's worth buying as you got the tractor to put it on.
19. there's meant to be a plate with boughton and model number on it's held on with a couple of screws I think, shame it's gone. it holds oil in the back part of the winch separate from the front of the winch that's why the back plate need's to fit tight to winch as it will leak oil or let water in.
20. I had one of these, i bought with out seeing after I bought it and got it home I noticed where the pto spline goes in you could lift up and down so I took back plate off and the two bearings on the bottom and the seal were junk and the duplex chain wasn't much better, didn't cost to much to replace [local bearing factor] easy job, the one your looking at the back plate doesn't fit flush so maybe check for same problem, the brake shouldn't be too difficult to sort out.
21. Hi, I still have my walnut for sale, probably a bit far but if your interested type in walnut for sale in the search you will see the pictures of it. I looked at it the other day and it's looks good darkened quite a bit it and cant see no major cracks/splits
22. It was a 2 speed boughton hdf25 it came off a county or ford 5000, took a bit of fettling to get it to fit.
23. It's worth doing, make use of the old vintage tractors
24. This is my old major, it was a good tool, sold it last year:thumbdown: wish I hadn't but seemed a good idea at the time
25. Here's some railing I did this week, It's just a yard to put cattle in so nothing fancy, but strong. it's all oak that I fell and got milled and oak post put in with digger plus a couple of tanalised post.
