  1. I wear dragon helmet with Peltor fitting, very similar to kask / stein plasma. Rather padded though but washable
  2. Hi all, I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but would it be OK to use a prusik loop from my anchor ring on bridge to bottom oval krab on hitch climber to make pulling below hitch possible? I can't see a problem but new to setup so just after an opinion. Thanks
  3. I've seen the thread, The echo looks great, but I need the saw to do a little more. I would definitely think of buying one in the future, but this saw will fill the gap I need <ms200t. The 200 I find too brutal for nice neat pruning, but the t435 looks abit better and with 2hp It may even be possible to give the 200t a bit of a rest. That's what I need for a backup saw, one that can do most things, rather than be stuck to an 8/10" bar. But definitely a future purchase. Or the ms193t?
  4. Hello all, I am looking to buy one of these saws as I have a lot of pruning work coming up and I need a slightly less brutal pruner than my 200t! I would buy a stihl 150t but I think this saw will find use more than a 150. I believe husky have never sold this saw in the UK, I have seen it in Italy for total of 275 posted. Any reviews/experience of this saw? Thanks
  5. Hi all, Using a new setup of prussik with slack tender pulley and for some reason the prussik keeps locking up? Never really had this problem before using the pulley, I began with a 3 wrap prussik which worked fine but the 2 strands of the loop which are connected to my karabiner keeps popping out of the wraps and locking up. It is new cord too Any advice?
  6. Got you. What was originally throwing me out was the termination knot. But obviously makes sense to me now I've mentally replaced it with a spliced eye. What about this; Advanced climbing techniques | Prusik hitch with slack tender any views? I can give this a go at home tomorrow with the pulley off my lanyard rather than fork out on HC setup etc Thanks
  7. Thanks gents, Also, how do you go about setting up a second prussic to tend the slack in the system? So I can take the slack in hand over hand rather than 3/4 thrusts hold weight then tend slack if that makes sense? friend of mine uses some throwline prussic loop and a tool clip? What happens when you need to unclip when moving anchor to advance higher in the tree? Thanks
  8. Hi all, Just wondering if it is necessary to only use oval karabiners on HC? Every kit I've seen contains them and I've just been given 2 Stein Geckos and want to advance from basic prussic. Thanks
  9. Hi all anyone one of anywhere to tip off in Worcester? Clean chip, coming from some dead chestnuts. Thanks
  10. All, Any ideas on above machine? 130 threw a valve and chunked piston sick of the noise , starting trouble and fuel leaks from carb now so thinking of 2 stroke. Not to be used flat out everyday, worth it?? Thanks
  11. Any opinions/reviews on the above trousers? Thanks
  12. Asked that earlier in march. Also still waiting for bump caps to wear instead of helmets when weeding. Ridiculous
  13. As I have done in the past. Another thing that has also become apparent is our contracts manager is putting removal in with the job. Line crossed?
  14. I do agree, but surely there should be a team that are suited and booted trained etc to go in? Is it my job to get rid of the things??
  15. As am I but it's been a case of a load found in a laurel reduction the other day, one left in a union at the base of sycamore to be pollarded this morning.
  16. We all have, nothing ever comes of it. Ive now printed the company's tool box talk on needles which states unless in an emergency only trained and competent persons shall move needles.
  17. Hi all, Something that is cropping up alot recently at work are jobs where there is a high amount of needles and other drug related stuff within the working area. We subcontract to a large company who give us alot of work, but me as team leader on these jobs ( I am not the proprietor of the company) I am finding myself in a difficult position. On several occasions I have spoken to my contract manager regarding the needles to the reply of - be vigilant, make sure they are put in am your sharps box and disposed of at your local clinic. This is poor imo, no rams, no ppe, no training, which as far as I remember from any of my nptc courses was the main things HSE would ask if there was an accident. We arent even jabbed for hepatitis. It's not worth the risk for my day rate, as we have all said. My question to you is this, as the team leader (not comoany onwer) am I in the position to say no, there are needles on site we will come back once removed. What would your views be if your lads phoned you with my views? Thanks
  18. Thinking that is the way now, will just have to ring it small, got some 8x4 ply we use for grinding so ill take that and use a brash mat
  19. There was me trying to be as safe as possible I wouldn't have thought that! I'm going to be using one of the round slings not the flat tape type, still not recommend?
  20. I'm going to use one of the round endless slings, but like you said, things don't take as much as you think
  21. We have a lad Ant for that! The gym lad! Always in his element at times like this.
  22. Thanks for your help Steve, was worried about that with the pulley coming apart! I'd imagine shock loading one of those would be a disaster! It's a pig of a job, but a loyal customer who's hedges we have maintained for the last 3 years.
  23. Thanks, using a medium ISC swing cheek, steel krab. 2t sling, how big would you go? (Thinking of the lads below too )
  24. The branches are no problem I'll rig them down, I'm on about the stem, I have a greenhouse and shed under the tree and a small path between the two roughly 2 or 3 ft wide, as a landing point, but i don't want it obliterated by dropping everything in one area then there's the risk of bounce or roll into the greenhouse, I won't be able to chuck the timber over the top of the greenhouse as there is a small veg patch next to the greenhouse, im hoping to chog the timber down on itself. Thanks
