  1. Totally agree! I was looking at a mk5 transit, I believe they run the same engine? but couldn't get a decent one for less than 2k. It is a nice little truck
  2. I don't think I'm too bad with spanners but I've got a pal who is an agricultural mechanic who owes me a favour. He loves these old horses Leyland/ ldv . He had a pilot for a while.
  3. That's all I need, won't be doing a lot of work, Shame it screams tarmac scrap tree work 😁
  4. I've never actually had a contract, like I said I don't want to be treading on toes, there is another lad who works with us just setting up with business cards, Facebook page magnetic signs etc which boss was happy with, but he is already self employed. I'm in his books
  5. Definitely will discuss with boss as I don't want to tread on anyone's feet. It went from one job at my aunties to a few on the cul de sac, then the mrs' work mates etc. I was a bit hesitant at first when asked to price, but then it dawned on me that I work 8/10/12 hour days for £85 and I can bang that in by 11 doing a hedge alone. It's now progressed. Like I said I will pass his details on for big jobs, as I earn my 85, I certainly won't sub jobs out
  6. Thanks, didn't actually notice if it was single or twin wheel, wouldn't want a single. All looked good from what i could see. For that price it will soon earn it's keep
  7. Hi all, I need to discuss this with my employer but on weekends I do odd things for myself, mainly through friends, family then onto neighbours etc of the above, how would you guys feel? I own all my own saws, trailer, climbing gear. It's mainly hedge cutting due to one man band, with the odd tree job. Any large jobs ill recommend my boss, I'm unsure of what to do at my current place, I am undecided weather to go self employed, get insured and go for it, but at the moment with young children I can't afford to give up the holiday and pretty much guaranteed income. Just wondering what you guys think of what I'm doing, a big no no? I want to discuss things with him like chipping jobs etc but want things still amicable. Thanks
  8. Speaking to an old gentleman this morning who owns the above, he may be thinking of selling for £900, do you think for a first van? Nearly 81k, single cab tidy to be honest. I know it screams ***** ( well to me anyway 😀) soon earn it's money back. Thanks
  9. I wear my climbing helmet on ground and climbing, but i wouldn't wear a ground helmet in the tree though due to chinstrap.
  10. I was originally planning to get the isc flame pulley, but was recommended by the guys on here for the isc cast. I'll go with what you guys say. As for not anything massive, all depends what falls into that bracket, like I said earlier, 90 percent of jobs are cut and chuck, but there are some jobs rigging is required. Id rather rig limbs out than strip them off and cut and chuck each branch and step cut every piece of the limb back. As you can probably tell, I'm not qualified for rigging, that will be on the cards later on, so I'm unsure of the correct equipment to get. Thanks
  11. Was planning to use the 16mm multi slings, what you think?
  12. Swap for small cast pulley?
  13. I get you. But 100kn for a redirect? Not very often we do big stuff, and a lot of cut and chuck. Thanks
  14. Hi all, gone are the days of the lads holding the rope through a v, how does this look for a basic setup? Won't be doing massive stuff. Thanks
  15. Hi all, I'm sure the majority of answers will contain it comes with experience but I'm just wondering if anyone can offer advice or tips on how to shape trees without having an groundsman pointing the shape out? I haven't done many reductions, but the ones I have I have always had a guy on the ground spotting the branches for me etc. I'd like to be able to do it alone then the guys can crack on chipping, dragging etc. I know every tree is different but I didn't know if there was any way whilst in the canopy you know where to cut? Sorry if this doesn't make much sense trying to explain as best I can. Thanks
  16. Plug after running through some rings
  17. [ame] [/ame] Anyone's opinions of how it sounds? Running abit rich?
  18. I've just been on a website that explains it spot on. Maybe the website you are on about, as it has audio clips of rich/lean and the 4 stroking. I will give it a go tomorrow using the guide and audio clips. The mod has already improved the saw even when I cut a small branch with a richer mix earlier. Why is the 193 so restricted?
  19. My understanding of four stroking is limited, I'm on Google atm 😁 I was just worried about the maximum rpm as it revs higher than before, not sure how close to maximum recommended rpm the standard setting was. Should be rather safe with a slightly black plug though? It's half light brown, half soot black, but like I said it hasn't been ran flat out much or buried in timber.
  20. Hi all, just muffler modded my ms193t and have tuned carb according but I haven't got a tacho. Engine does rev higher than before, but plug color is slightly black/brown. It hasnt been worked yet. Have a slight slight bog on spool up but when I change L it dies on tick over. The bog is over in a millisecond- seems to be the best setting I can get. Do I need to get a tacho or keep an eye on the plug after running it through some rings? Thanks
  21. Hi all, any opinions of the 193t? I'm getting one the weekend, just wondering what's folks think? Will be modding muffler too asap. Any guides as never done before. Thanks
  22. Should have worded better, I saw a picture once but was slightly concerned of dropping system as it looked like the whole setup was connected via rope eye karabiner
  23. Its a sirus loop 10mm, ihave briefly looked at that setup, getting used to it at the mo. Does that system become disconnected if you unclipped ?
