  1. working near stokesley on a quite and signal track lane for a few days, it started with a full road closure, signed diversion, row of cones ect , but by the end, then with tape hedge to hedge, 20m further gas board type barriers hedge to hedge, 20m further landrover across road, in the hedges and they still came through carrying they bikes over the bash :confused1::lol:

it never ceases to amaze me

  2. I've bought a couple of new saws in my life including one just recently but I'm interested in trying milling and as this is only a hobby there's no chance I would splash out on a large new saw that might get used very infrequently.

fair play why not try asking on here i reckon someone on hear could sort you out and chances are its been looked after :thumbup1:

  3. we had an old lady today walk round the barriers around the little coned walk way we had set out and walk down the white line of a busy road not a care in the world while we were chipping we shouted her to watch out as there was a car driving right behind her she just smiled and cracked on down the road gobsmacked is an understatement

  4. logs we use alpha dot on all are kit thousands of tiny dots all over every nuck and cranny all alfa dot stuff is registered on a data base. but i would go with what Mr Blair said if you can justify a new saw do it you don't know what your buying and if they have had the right fuel mix in etc i see your in manchester look up skyland equipment in liverpool there pretty good like.

  7. Evening all... As the title suggest, I am thinking of starting to hire out my woodmizer for like minded arb type peeps so that they can mill stocks of timber they may have in the yard, maybe to try a mill before they go and buy one or even if they just fancy "having a go" with a new toy....

This is due to the fact that if I have other work on the go, then the mizer is just sat in the workshop not earning its keep. Also, for people like your good selves the cost of a mill and operator could be a little off putting and negate the benefits of milling timber rather than just logging it for firewood (criminal in my opinion!) I would love to see more trees put to good use!

I already have a couple of clients who hire it without operator, but I know and trust them to look after my machine.

so, my question is- good idea or bad idea? do you think people would wreck the mizer or treat it as there own?

I am asking your opinion because YOU would be the type of people I would be aiming it at......

    TOM.

i would go with what tom said go with your machine show them how you expect it to be used/ looked after i think you will know in your heart if there sound or not maybe have a deposit or document draw up or terms and conditions have it signed that they understand if it's abused they get the bill. having excavators myself i will not let them leave the yard without me as a driver or the few people i trust to go with it no self drive it breaks my heart when you see hired in machined getting hammered by untrained monkeys .

  8. Ye got one couldn't recommend it enough will change your thinking while rigging withs its lifting ability, if you've got the dollar buy one.

just watched a yank on youtube pull over a back leaner and suspend it in the air and logged it up and just slowed it to the floor. do like the look of them seeing the feed back off them

  9. i get some of you guys saying let them crack on its their inherent right and all that and thats fine. but as professionals we do have a duty of care to keep them as safe as possible. thats the reason for the signage and the banks man etc. we have tried all approaches with people being nice pointing out there wrongs etc. i mite get slated for this however i would definitely consider using force to remove someone out of a danger area if they where going to cause a danger to themselves or the lads. its a problem that will never go away and we will just have to deal with it.
