  1. Somebody hacked my account not long ago. They sent emails to my grandmother and uncle pretending to be me begging for money claiming i desperately needed financial help. My grandmother sent money to my account and then I got an email off 'her' asking me to deposit the money in a western union account in nigeria as she couldnt get to the bank in wellington. I knew something was up and contacted her and the police. It turned out that after she had sent me the money to my account she got another email off 'me' saying it had all been eaten by my overdraft and could she send the same amount to my western union account. Naively she did and the bastards got away with 2.5k. They had been filtering my emails so they went straight in a folder i don't use and then deleting sent and received messages. Once I knew something was up I did a search and found one where they had pretended to be me and mentioned my girlfriends name etc they also knew my grandma lived in NZ. Scary stuff, apparently its the most common crime now (online fraud) they have big gangs in these places dedicated to hacking. She's a kind old lady, obviously I should have just asked for money all these years and i'd have got it. ha. Joking aside. I'm a lot more careful now and so is my grandma. You never think it will happen to you. But yeah, be careful of the electronic trail you leave and make sure your security is up to date!
  2. I'm a subby climber and I have a LWB transit connect with a roof rack. you can fit loads in it. Hedgecutters, rakes, saws, rigging kit,2 full ton bags and more and a have a roof rack for ladders. the passenger seat even folds flush with the floor if you have an unusual load you need to get in. i'm very pleased with it and it looks tidy for turning up to jobs or quotes etc. 2007 twin side loading door 1.8 tdci think its 90hp. Worked out the costs and it was loads less than a 4x4 i recommend getting something similar sized for starting out.
  3. We are looking to hire a stump grinder off someone for a day for 5 conifer stumps(biggest around 16" diameter) near Farnham in the next couple of weeks. Any help appreciated. please message me on here or call ben hyatt on 07823321959 to discuss! Cheers!
  4. I need a new krab for my lanyard. I have an ART positioner with a swivel on my strop. Is there any point in getting a snaplock krab with a swivel??? Does anyone have that setup and would the swivel on the positioner render another one useless? Recently got the ART positioner with swivel and its a great improvement over the VT
  5. A friend of mine does river keeping and he's recently found out he's got lymes disease and he's had it a while so it's seriously bad news!! So yeah, watch out for the little f**kers!
  6. I know what you mean about the bark, but i can't find any that are a close match. The search continues!
  7. Sorry I can't work out how to rotate these pics... its easier to rotate the screen!! it's on sandy soil in partial shade.. it's had a lift and been shaped into a ball, so natural form isn't clear. The leaves have next to no scent at all and feel thin and bendy compared to bay, def. not bay.
  8. ha whooops! there ya go!
  9. To me this looked similar to portuguese laurel but it doesn't have red stems? Any ideas?

  12. Was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I have been doing clearance work at a farm recently and I was asked to take a look at some Oak that came down in the storms last year. The owner wants to know the value of it and whether it can be used for anything. I'm not sure as I have no experience with that sort of thing. Its worth plenty as firewood but would be nice to make something from it or use it productively. Its either sessile or english oak, there is a large piece approx. 500cm x 100cm a smaller piece 220cm x 50cm and 300cm x 40cm Its been down a while, there were small saprophytes growing on the outside, bark was rotten in places and signs of decay beginning near the tares but the heartwood generally looked ok to me. Anyone know what sort of value the wood has or what I should advise to have done? Would it be worth milling? Would someone be interested in buying it? Might be good to make a bench or sculpture?! Cheers,
  13. Turned out the saw had heaps of problems; a leak in the actual oil pump it had a hole in it!? problems with the coil and needed new gaskets in the carb. It was sold as 'fully working and in good condition' off a 'trusted seller' but they would have definitely known the saw was faulty. Anyway I've been put off getting any saws second hand now but got a refund and went and bought a new 461 to console myself, very pleased with the decision its a very good saw and happily using aspen.
  14. Amport, Hampshire. The Andover aspen stockist near me is pretty good I think I will pay him a visit. Cheers
  15. I cannot be sure first time I started it myself was after I put aspen in it. I was told it was fully functional when I bought it, off someone trusted so I would assume it's since switching? thanks
  16. awesome. i want to see more!
  17. OK thanks, so I can tell you the saw starts fine and idles ok but on full revs it seems to slow down or struggle for a moment before returning to full speed. Do you know if this is a tuning issue or something else?
  18. Ok thanks, I will put it in and give it a go!
  19. I have bought a stihl 362 its a second hand 2010 model it previously had not been used with aspen fuel, previous owner mixed their own. I only really want to use aspen as I am led to believe it's better for the user, machines and environment. Is there anything I should do before putting aspen fuel in and starting it up or will it it be ok to just fill her up and go? Machine generally looks ok theres no scoring on piston etc, there's no fuel in tank currently except for a little remnants. Any help greatly appreciated thanks Hamilton
  20. Thats a great help thanks. The wood's dry, not warped and its got some really nice grain i'm hoping it will turn out well with a sand off and coat. I assume 'shake' is a weakness in the wood, I wouldn't know what to look for!
  21. Hi, I was hoping someone with experience would be able to tell me the value of Yew planks that measure 1inch x 8inch x 6ft as i never bought or sold this sort of thing before. My landlord has milled numerous bits of larch and yew and I want 4 yew planks to make a table top and want to make a fair offer. He has a fair few planks and pieces of 4x4 just sat there he wants to sell them but he's not sure what it is worth and who to approach, any ideas, do you think local carpenters would be a good shout? Any help would be much appreciated cheers!
