  1. Good skills shavey, that's so similar to ours!
  2. Works a treat, obviously chainsaw is slower and more wasteful than bandsaw but its incredibly accurate and versatile. For what it cost to build I think its great, really enjoy using it.
  3. That the sort of thing? We built this couple years ago, randomly in honiton just down the road!
  4. We have a forst tr8, 100% happy with it. Not needed any dealer back up for the forst yet, but we also have jensens and redwoods have always been exceptional with after sales for them. From our experience would recommend forst/redwoods every time.
  5. It's fixed tracked until feb! They had a hold up on the variable base and will change it when it arrives
  6. Our tr8 arrived today. We also have 8 inch jensen and agree its a very good chipper. I've only used the forst for the day but its clearly a hugely capable machine and out performs the jensen. I also find the forst to incredibly user friendly and well thought out. This is the 5th machine we have had from redwoods and can honestly say the service has been faultless. Defiantly positive feed back for forst from us :-)
  7. Couple of benches we milled, simple and rustic it is!
  8. Ha cheers, love it, Lonely climber is a great name for that photo. Got some great snaps and go pro footage at that job, just need to find the time to go through it :-)
  9. Sorry Alec, pm issues, they don't seem to come through on the app for some reason, I'll go on line and sort it. Fine for a couple lengths :-)
  10. Alec thank u for this, spot on info. Poplar seems to be a hugely under rated timber. We've actually got a fairly basic mobile mill, never thought it would come out for some poplar but I'm going to rip a couple up the middle and see. Thanks for that, u welcome to collect a couple!
  11. Thanks Alec, grain in the photo is not what it appears at all but I c what u mean! I was actually really surprised at how slow grown these were. I'd say 80 years old. I will cut a bit down the grain to see. Cheers :-)
  12. Few miles from honiton east Devon
  13. We have just finished a huge poplar job, timber is due to be sold for chip and low grade milling, pallets etc. a lot of it is black poplar and it's actually really nice looking timber. And it's huge and straight. Would anyone have any betters ideas what it could be used for? Or is the above plan about right? Timbers in Devon and there's a fair bit of it. Any advise much appreciated Cheers
  14. We have a different model bcs so can't help with the numbers but phoned kilworth and they were so helpful, gave us part numbers etc over the phone, we managed to get oil, fuel and hydraulic filters locally at a fraction of the price and had to ring them back for the air filter. They were super helpful and friendly
  15. Fair enough, any ideas what? we have only ever had this issue with husky bars, found it fails quicker with out grease. We have six hardworking 560s and they all seem to do it. Our dealer says that's just the way it is with hard working fast saw but we've not tried any other makes, so possibly we r doing something wrong?
  16. Could u tell me roughly how much a 20 inch sugi bar would be for a husky? We run husky 560s and grease/maintain the bars as u should but find the nose sprocket fails way before the bar is worn out
  17. No idea why the link to our website has changed names, but it seems to work? Company is called hartwood treeworks, easily found on google
  18. Small company based in east Devon looking for climber and groundsman. Ideally full time, long term position but happy to consider part time/subbies etc. The work can vary from commercial or residential tree work, site clearance and general contracting. Please see Tree Surgeon East Devon or find our Facebook page to see what we get upto. Must have relevant nptc units, team player with a good attitude working to highest standards. Cscs, highways card, towing ticket would be an advantage but not essential. Wages to be discussed depending on experience and qualifications. Feel free to get in touch for more details Thanks Simon 07909 524526
  19. Yep u r right we had a problem on arb work in town, no way to claim forestry. Think we were un lucky (pulled twice in a week), plenty other firms seem to get away with it! There's our old rig
  20. Thanks tom, your right, we normally have a heavy flail on the back and the machine works much better. Like your set up, we had similar until last year (not quite as nice tbh) but we got a fair bit grief from vosa and traffic officers and decided to give it up. Assuming u r agri registered and doing arb road miles, could I ask if you ever have a problem?
