I have 540 mature ( 30mtrr x 1.5 mtr dia) douglas fir trees in the limoges area in france and I have been approached to sell them . What would be a fair price . Any advice much appreciated

You would probably be better off contacting your local saw mills. Douglas is one of the most sought after timbers in France so you should have some interest. Are you felling and extracting to roadside yourself or selling it as a standing crop?
I could certainly fell them for you. -
I think you're better off asking someone else. I deal with firewood in Wales. 😉

This is going to be hundreds of lorry loads of timber and unless they are simply too big for the mills will be at least half a million Euros maybe a lot more.
Employ the services of a forestry agent who know the local market. I assume such people exist in France, maybe a few of the Arbtalkers who are based in France could point you in the right direction. For a parcel of this size you don't want to skimp on the professional advice.
Thinking about it you could start by speaking to Chantler Timber here in the UK - they buy a lot from France, Germany etc so I would think they will have the knowledge and they speak English (in case you don't speak French).
