Just tell the customer that H&S comes into play. Not every offering can be scooped cleanly with a shovel and even the tiniest amount can carry a multitude of zoonoses (animal diseases transmittable to humans). Parvovirus through to worms. Some can cause blindness! If they want the animals they should take the risk factor and clean up. They have a dutyof care towards anyone they employ on their property.
  2. How about the entrance to Thistlebrook (the do as you likey site) on corner of Harrow Manorway and Eynsham Drive. You won't get paid for it but satisfaction is gauranteed!
  3. It seems youngsters in any industry treat what they are told in training as gospel, I know I did. Then you do it in practice and realise it quite often works differently in real life. The only difference was that I kept my mouth shut untill I was experienced enough to know the score. Kids today often don't have the respect, tact, sense (whatever you want to call it) to keep schtumm (probably not how it's spelt I know!).
  4. Ban idiots????? What would my village do without me?
  5. What, and get it all caught up in supermarket trollies and old bikes!!
  6. I suppose it depends on what environmental legislation is in place in New Zealand. The protection for non cultivated plants here is patchy, (criminal damage only relates to plants that are owned by somebody ie planted & tended). "Wild trees" may have some protection under environmental legislation, TPO's etc but, as always, other crimes take precedence. Perhaps our new crime commissioners can be persuaded to raise the precedence of such crimes!
  7. There's a town in Soth Wales called Mountain Ash so surely it should be "Mountain Ash Dai Bach".
  8. I cried when both my kids were born. I have had 25 years of joy since then ( and 25 years of worry!) My eldest is an arb now and I couldn't be prouder of him. Enjoy the rest of your life being a dad, it never goes away. Make sure you are her best friend as well as her teacher and advisor.
  9. I once bought a house that had been built in breach of a covenant. I had to buy an insurance policy against any future calim (which never happened). My understanding is that an "interested party" can sue through the county court system for any breach. This takes time and money and is obviously not guaranteed to suceed. You'd have to be pretty committed to follow it through. Not sure if the homeowner or contractor (or both) can be sued though. Don't touch it untill the client has sorted the problem!

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
