  4. Evening all, a long shot I know. Does any body have an unwanted copy of, (or know where i might find a copy of) British Standard 5837 2012 (planting). Hoping to find one for a fair bit less than the daft money being asked by the BSI Website for a new one. Thanking you in advance. Buck.

  9. Thanks chaps, No sign of bleeding though I did not actually 'damage' it. Is it a cause of, sign of or nothing to do with wider problems? Cheers
  10. Afternoon chaps. Is this Stereum gausapatum, (bleeding oak crust)? Its on a number of functioning branches on what looks like an otherwise vigerous oak. If so what is the wider prognosis for the tree? Thank you.
  11. Yorkshire stile has evolved predominantly because of the 'scratty' state of the hedges that we have to work with in Yorkshire. 95% of what we lay is 'overipe' hawthorn, and its realy a case of doing your best with each pleach. Everything is cut very hard back in the hope of maximum re growth. The lack of Hazel etc up here has led to the take up of sawn timber. This might be the best stile if you want to discourage people from pushing through your fresh layings. Regards
  12. Hi Hedgesparrow, If you are meaning a style with a sawn timber top rail forming the structure of the hedge (sort of half hedge, half fence), thats Yorkshire style. Hope this helps. Happy Christmas Buck.
  13. I keep a shelf in my log store and put any logs with butterflies on them on there untill the spring. 3 so far this year. and yes I think that they are peacocks.
  14. Used about 5m3 so far. . 20kw burner running 7 rads and hot water. Nice and cosy tonight in a very chilly (northerly wind) North Yorkshire.
  15. Leeds Queens Hall, (cant rememer the year)- (for those about to rock) Brilliant night- watched it on BBC 4 tonight - Awsome Band.
  16. Signal crayfish, grey squirrels, mink, sycamores and rap music . . . . .I rest my case.
  17. All depends on how an individual evaluates 'success', I thought that the idea of that particular concept being measured in £splashed around had died 15/20 years ago.
  18. "How much tax will the people in your average audience at the Opera pay?" Less than their cleaner!
  19. OOps didnt recognise that as a place. Clearly more than 20 miles away.
  20. Government meeting today. (COBRA). Lets hope that there might be some firm and effective guidance so that we can all do 'our bit' available by the end of the day. BBC News - Ash dieback: Government Cobra meeting to tackle disease
  21. Im not an expert on this stuff but i always think that 'smart water' lends itself particularly well to this industry. Invite your local crime prevention officer round for a coffee.
