  1. As the title suggests I am looking for an inspector in South Yorkshire. I like supporting small businesses or independents so am loathe to go to one of the national firms. Any recommendations will be greatfully received.
  2. Sure it has been said, but I think it depends how much you sweat as an individual, unless I am stationary I get just as wet in waterproofs as without unless it is properly cold, at which point water is ice anyway. But I know blokes who can wear the old fashioned PVC stuff in summer and be dry with just a t-shirt underneath. The most breathable stuff I have found is the paramo/ventile stuff, buts it's bloody pricey and you have to dry it thoroughly after use or it rots. On the plus though for a sweaty bloke I find it really comfortable to wear in the rain but I still get damp.
  3. Thanks all. I shall improve my striming technique and change the line, if I feel flush I may even test the ones you have recommended and do a review in gratitude. Much obliged gents ....oh and ladies, Chris
  4. Could a mod please correct the title for me to strimmer line? Thanks, feel a bit like the original typo title
  5. I have recently purchased a stihl kombi system with as trimmer head, I am one of those people who can't stand a stray blade of grass on a finished wall. This means I perhaps go to close to walls, with the result that I wear the line down in seconds some times. So am I: A. Expecting too much of the line? B. Being an over zealous perfectionist Or C. Using domestic grade line. My current thought is something like single core speaker wire with a thicker and heavier plastic jacket is the way forward. Any thoughts?
  6. Thanks all, he says scribbling down the serial numbers of all my new shiny hardware. Next job bright pink insulating tape to make sure they remain mine!
  7. Thanks kev, thought I was over thinking things.
  8. Why not attach a retrieval line to what ever you decide to use to run the logs on? Ensure it is free running, the end is attached with maybe a large tent peg or fastened to a sapling so the momentum doesn't whisk it away and obviously don't keep hold of it unless you intend to control decent with it from the start. Easiest thing to google for an idea is probably zip line safety rope. Hope that helps, Chris
  9. Hi all. Another question with a simple answer I am sure. I have just bought my first climbing kit after using others for a while. Foolishly I didn't look at how they had individually marked metallic kit such as a carabiners. I don't want to take my dremel to them to individually number them only for it all to fail its first loler inspection or worse actually weaken the kit and cause myself an injury. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  10. Scrumpy? You had better check the max octane the engine will take... The Scrumpy may have to be three mix.... Oil, Scrumpy and distilled water!
  11. Now that is dedication, thirteen years on a hedge project! Sir, I doff my hat to you......may I suggest your next project be beard topiary in a dragon style.
  12. Well it's not that they need cleaning, I am a bit of a tinkerer and on aspen my 460 serial number was clean after about 50-60 litres of aspen but after 10 litres of normal two stroke unreadable. The spark plug told the same story. Not saying either is better especially given the cost of aspen and I am so new to this business I have never worn out a saw but I reckon alkolyte fuels make tools last longer given my amateur abilities at tuning.
  13. Big T I thought the same about those cans. I am rapidly trying to work out the economics of using motomix and making it cost effective by selling the empty cans on fleabay. Given how much less spark plugs need cleaning on this kind of fuel I think it will work.
  14. What the commando said Steve, sorry I should have explained.
  15. Steve the photo is of a 5l can but if you look at the standard four stroke version the prices don't make sense and when you try to change the can size the price remains constant. I am sure trading standards would ensure you pay that price for a five litre can despite it being an error. If you see what I mean?
  16. Cancel my last, the price looks like it's for 3 litres not 5 making aspen cheaper.......so I will continue mixing my own fuel.
  17. Hi I have been lurking for ages so probably a strange first post. However just noticed FRJones are now stocking motomix and it is £1 a litre cheaper than aspen. Checked the stihl website and they have it listed as a uk product. I think I will be filling the back of the truck next time I pass the dealers.

    Ms460 ?

I have one of these fine pieces of German Engineering. A little nose heavy with a 25in bar for my liking, but otherwise I can not find fault besides the tooless filler caps on all new Stihls( way too intricate for my ham fists). I love it besides these two minor blemishes and would buy it again tomorrow and the day after. Hope this helps.
