  1. I figured I would colour code each end and try to alternated which end I tie into and then the rope should were more evenly. Just a crazy idea I have going on
  2. Thanks Guys, Just put an order in with Honey Bros decided to go with Teufelberger Hi-Vee and got it spliced at both ends also picked up a new pinto pulley and a new liros eye to eye hitch cord. Happy days
  3. Havnt tried Stanton an hope are they reliable most people refer to them as Stanton and hopeless round here??
  4. Especially with hitch climber as it interferes with the hitch
  5. I had scorch before and caught the eye with my silky which really annoyed me. Couldn't get anyone to re terminate it as its used rope
  6. Hi guys My 200T will start but then won't rev up without stalling. It's been in an out of Browns a few times and they seem to be happy to take my money but the saw last for a dozen jobs an goes back to the same old routine. It also leeks oil everywhere when not in use from the side casing where the bar is located. Anyone in Essex willing to repair it properly? Cheers Dave
  7. Hi guys My groundie cut my climbing line in half yesterday whilst snedding up a large limb. Iv been climbing on Yale XTC for about 6 years. I like the feel of 13mm and works well with my hitch climber set up. Is there anything else i should have a look at before buying another length of XTC? Cheers
  8. I'm not convinced either way if the photo is real. It came up on my news feed on a social media site and it made me chuckle so thought it was worth sharing as I'd not seen it on here before.
  9. Just seen this pop up online. When will these people learn??
  10. Just did a little bit of reading. It is infact illegal to use red diesel on a public highway. There are exemptions for farmers who have to use parts of a public highway to access their fields but officially they are not supposed to it is just wavered.
  11. Hi guys just trying to get the allotment sorted im n the process of making some raised beds at the moment. Was going to make the paths round the allotment with chip. So I'm on the scrounge for a bit of chip. Won't be needed for maybe another two weeks. Also well rotted manure would come in handy if anyone is local I can come a grab some and stick it on the pickup. Cheers Dave
  12. Is it not easier and achieve the same thing using an endless webbing sling?
  13. I found something on gustharts that will do the job thanks
  14. Wanted to make a new lanyard with TACHYON. Can this be spliced? Wanted an eye at each end total length about 5m. Could anyone help me out with the eyes as I have never done it before would prefer someone with experiance to do it for me?? I'm based in Essex but don't mind posting or paying postage etc to get it to anyone that could help me out
  15. I also did some research on cellox type blood clotting agents a while ago when they first started becoming readily available on the market. There was various references to the fact that a lot of the agents didn't actually stop blood loss effectively without stemming tge blood flow first. There was a lot of info available at the time from military medics suggesting this was the case. I'm sure things have improved since as this was a good five years ago. Regarding spinal injuries I don't carry a spinal board on me and I'm pretty sure not many people do. I guess if someone on the team suffered a bad spinal injury at height best practice would be to try to keep the casualty as still as humanly possible and keep still once in the deck by which time hopefully someone with far more training than I have would be on scene?? Maybe Katie can assist here??
  16. I have had lengthy conversations about the use of torniquets with me friend who is a retired military medic and also owns his own first aid training school. He advises against the use of a torniquet mainly for the reason of secondary damage below where it's applied. He says he completely understands why I carry a CAT but he cannot reccomend that I apply it to anyone but myself. I carry a CAT in my pouch on my harness and a couple in the main FA Kit but thankfully havnt had to cross that bridge yet. What's everyone's thoughts on the use of them? If you were to sustain an arterial bleed and someone had one on site would you want it applied to prevent blood loss? Obviosly combined with cellox, field dressings, packing material etc? Or prefer the use of a torniquet to only be applied by a paramedic or emergency doctor??
  17. @lolerUk that was a very informative reply and as a climber I feel I should no more about rope construction / technology than I currently do. I would be interested in being pointed in some direction for further reading in this subject. Cheers - Dave
  18. Limb walking grows with experiance. You have to have faith in your anchor point. Have you tried using a longer lanyard for your secondary line so that you don't have to worry about swinging back into the trunk? Try getting a second line out on a limb above the one you intend on walking so you are between the two lines like a V shape. The only other method is just to keep practicing. Do some reccy climbing with someone with more experiance and just push yourself that bit further each time. Eventually you will find your legs. It's all about confidence in your climbing system.
  19. Just got back from a beautiful week in Braunton. Me and the other half fell in love with it. Seriously considering relocating at some point in the future. Just wondering what the work situation is for a climber in the area? I'm assuming there must be a few bods on here that are in the area. Just making enquiries before we take the dive and relocate. Any advice would be very welcome. Cheers Guys Dave
  20. Couple of months ago our young son was not sleeping well and he likes a drive through the woodland so we went for a drive. There was a young male in running gear sitting on the side of the road trying to wave cars down. We drove past at first due to his position on a blind bend but as I drove past it felt wrong so next opportunity to turn round we went back to check on him. Turned out he had slipped down a verge and badly sprained his foot. He only lived 2 miles up a steep hill so we helped him in an drove him home. He was very grateful. About a month later we were on our way shopping and a car was pulled up on the other side of the road with the bonnet up. A young Nigerian couple standing there jump leads in hand. Pulled up in front of them popped the bonnet and less than 1 min later we were back on route. Turns out the poor couple had been standing there for 45mins. How many people had driven passed them at 10am on a Sunday morning that could have spared one min of their day to jump a car is beyond me.
  21. Thanks for that I knew someone would know on here. My fungus knowledge is pretty limited
  22. Hi guys, I was reducing a Horse Chestnut this week and came across a fair amount of this fungus. Well I think it's a fungus. It was found only on dead limbs. Can anyone help me identify it please? It's seems to be like a hollow dome shaped brown jelly. Not the best description I know but there is a pic below.
  23. Ps I know it sates US an Canada but this is an international forum and with the use of the internet shopping it's quite possible that there could be some in the UK also
  24. Don't know if anyone uses GriGri 2's on here I know I do for rock climbing but this recall was just bought to my attention. Sorry if it's a repost bit could prevent an accident so thought it was worth sharing. http://www.petzl.com/us/outdoor/us/recall-replacement-grigri-2
