  1. well it will work both ways when i get a big job in again i wont phone him, the saying if you pay peanuts you get monkeys springs to mind:lol:, the lads that work for that cant have the same overheads as people like me, good luck for them, Well thanks for all the help, i get the feeling im about right on my day rate, i would rather work hard for a decent wage and only work 3 days a week rather than work 5 days a week and make F**k all:thumbup1:
  2. well i have gone selfemployed and starting to price my own work , advertise etc, so i need my pl cover for that, yes next april i was thinking about changing my day rate to £120, its a job to keep everyone happy but i guess i would rather loose out on one chap rather than slog my B*****S of an earn a loss:confused1:
  3. I totally agree, well he didnt need people with pl ins so i guess that added a bit onto my day rate, well i think to be honest he has earnt his living elsewhere and only does trees to cover his costs (charging the bare minimum) and it shows when you go to work for him, i siad i cant do it for £80 per day sorry, not after all the time and money ive put into to my training, tools insurance etc etc .....
  4. As i said, ive not been climbing long so not expecting top wack, as for fuel i then to use the person who im working fors fuel, i dont want to put my day rate up any higher as i dont want to loose any more work,!!
  5. I would say thats spot on mate, do you use your fuel? yh day rate is £100, but i broke it down to hourly rate, thanks
  6. Well i wanted to get my name around and get a good reputation as a climber. i hope to increase my hourly rate next april, thanks for the comment though, sometimes you doubt yourself.
  7. Hi all, Just been speaking to a tree surgeon i used to work for (asking for a bit of chipper advice), he then moved on to say the reason i dont phone you anymore josh is your too expensive!!...... As he said he can get blokes that just want beer money and are happy to work for £10.00 per hour, Ive been on the ground working with a saw for atleast 5/6 years and have been climbing for say 12months, im not being cocky but i would say im getting quite fast & im very safe, Im self employed & have my own van, saws, ppe & 5million pl insurance. I charge £12.50 per hour at the moment (£100.00) per day. And i graft for that, sometimes dont even stop for lunch, Is this really to expensive? All the other lads i subcontract for are well happy with me and give me load of work, at the end of the day ive still got rent to pay, bills the same as anybody else.!! Thanks
  8. theres a nice jo beau m500 on fleabay atm
  9. yh me neither i dont like the idea of someone else owning your chipper, just gunna keep my eyes open!!
  10. its true, but getting a chipper as big as that would mean changing my van to a 4x4 pickup or tranny/iveco/mitsi tipper etc. but ill see what timberwolf say about it!! thanks
  11. Hi All, ive started a few threads about small chippers etc. I do really need to get myself a small chipper now, FED UP OF JUMPING DOWN BRASH WITH THE VAN AND TRAILER:confused1:so before i bite the bullet and get a new GTM/cs100/1375g or whichever i choose (would like the 18100g) i thought i would ask if any of you had a small chipper you didnt use, or one thats has been taken out of use because you have upgraded. im not being tight but if anyone has a second hand chipper smallish and they want a better price than px, please PM me or phone josh on 07792906258, THANKS:thumbup:
  12. how does it compare to th GTM pro, looks simular and half the price? thanks:thumbup1:
  13. yh the Guy recomended the gtm engine as opposed to the mitsubishi engine, well atm i have a 106 van, im either gunna get a small chipper or replace my towable log splitter i just sold with a wallenstein model, was just thinkig small chippers are so handy but the greenmech cs100 and jo beau models are well expensive:confused1: then i cud put chipping sides on my wilstow 9x4 trailer wheel the chipper up the ramps and chip right into the trailer, untill i can afford a hilux:thumbup1:
  14. thanks mate, you had it long? which engine have you got?
