  1. Hey Kevin, where do I go here in the U.S. to get one?

  3. Yes, I have experienced this and it is redundant. Just trying to think outside the box. Lol! Another issue with emergency would be if the climber is clipped in with another climb/flip line. Thanks for your feedback.
  4. Hello everyone, I am fairly new here. I have read this whole thread and have learned allot from this thread. I was wondering is there a way to basal tie your climb line and have it tied off to high TIP AND still have the option of being lowered to the ground from ground personnel in case of emergency. I think if not already in use this would be great to have if someone on the ground would accidentally cut your climbing line. Thanks in advance for any feedback, Mark
  5. I live in the U.S. as well and have heard stories of these black cats but didn't believe them. Recently there was a picture on our local newspaper of one. They aren't as big as the Florida Panther but much larger than a domestic cat. Big enough where I don't want to come face to face with one. They are not native here and nobody is sure where they are from.

    UFOs

Watch Ancient Aliens on Discovery channel or check it out Youtube if your not in the US. Very interesting, archeologist are finding underground cities made of huge stones all over the world. Some of this cities are 4,000 years old or more! There is a cave found I think in 1997? This cave is solid rock, it is 3 stories high, has over 15,000 ventilation shafts, and a massive door made of rock that can only be closed from the inside. Scientist believe there may have been as many as 30,000 people living there maybe more! How could cave men have been that sophisticated to make something like this? Another interesting fact is to this day they have not found any hand tools that would have been used to make this. The evidence of advanced civilizations were here, when we was supposed to be cave men with sticks.
  7. I too had my first semi- successful climb SRT and first with the RW above 10'. Once the pantin started working along with my flip over the shoulder it worked great! I was only about 30' feet max and had to swing over to another tree that was only about 5' away and walk the limb. Everything went well, I used my lanyard much more than usual since I was using a new system. I love it! Only issue was when descending (which was smooth) except I felt a good bit of heat on my hitch (28" grizzly spliced 10mm Beeline with vt 3 wraps, 3 braids) So I stopped about three feet off the ground and checked my hitch and adjusted the RW. Started to come the rest of the way down and couldn't! Hitch froze up! After fighting it for a bit I finally got smart and I began to use my pantin to advance and take the tension off the hitch so I could reset the hitch. After several failed attempts and some poor choice words I was able to make it down. My wife laughing at me and the kids asking me, " What are you doing dad?" Using 1/2" Arborplex for SRT, Lol! I knew better but couldn't wait until I purchased a better climbing line. Anyway I should have done this sooner because I convinced my wife I NEED a new climbing line:) So I have some Poison HiVee on the way! Can't wait to be able to fully utilize this equipment. I do weigh around 195 so I think this was also part of the issue and my tether may have been a bit too long. By the way my name is Mark and I am a newbie here. Thanks for laughing, I mean reading.
  8. Well I have your RW. I need an ascent line now. I have read most of this thread it seems like there is no perfect line for ascending and working in the tree with it. I believe Kevin you mentioned Poison Ivy is good. On your videos it appears you have used the Fly as well. Any recommendation for a beginner?
  9. Thanks for posting! This is an excellent reminder of how dangerous our line of work is. My neighbor crushed his middle finger two days before Christmas and lost about 1 1/2" of his finger. He was hoisting a boat prop with chain on a yaucht. The funny part is he was showing the guys that wasn't doing it right how to do it! lol I wish you a speedy and full recovery
  10. Hello I am in the process of starting my business bAck up as well. I learned a lot from reading this thread. I would buy a 1 ton truck, larger trailer, Dingo, more equipment, find some good ground help. Go to school for urban forestry-grants if possible? Take a few vacations throughout the year, and invest in Fed Ex/ Amazon if possible. Have two crews working for me all the time. Make time for my kids and family. Donate to others not so fortunate which is also a tax write off.
  11. That just seemed like a bad idea period. Yet I have had my fair share of being tired or behind on a job and try something different and hope for the best. Thanks for posting! This video could save a life or too.
