  1. Been really struggling on my own lately. I desperately need to get in touch with someone locally as my usual hand is a bit out of reach now although he tries his best to assist me. P.S .. I generally dont mix with your ' macho arb types ' but if your a genuine tree/nature person who takes health &safety seriously I would be interested in teaming up on a job in the near future with you .
  2. I bought a bg86ce couple of months ago and have been very impressed with its power/performance. It does seem to get very hot after a little whiles use though so I would be wary using it all day .
  3. There was a member ' shanks ' replied to my farthest north thread. Said he wasn't a pro but he is certainly in the right area ( Ullapool ). Dont know if anyone is acqainted with him.
  4. Exactly the same as above. Also try massaging a wet ice cube on to area. Masses of people on hear suffer.
  5. I just remember at paying over £200 for a few hours chipping i should be ENTITLED to an operator!
  6. I wouldn't totally rule it out . Not many companies ( two i think ) do it up here. I hire one out now and again and i see the cost is £180 plus delivery and fuel for chipper now , thats without operator. To me there must be a wage in there somewhere for an operator .
  7. I've been told springtime by two husky dealers which is why I'm not going for the 346xp. Read charlieh's thread on the 560xpg.

    560xpg

This is quite interesting because I am desperately needing a bigger saw but with the new 50cc husky coming out in spring I am very reluctant to purchase a 346xp. If the 560xpg is as good as you say it could well fill a little niche in the market and i think will have to look at this saw seriously.
  9. I'll get conifer tuft out the way just now. P.S I'm glad someone finds it funny !!
  10. Good fun Thats what arbtalk is all about imo. Educational and you get a laugh along the way.
  11. Yeah the climbers with all the whistles and bells attached ! Think RobArb's got it with dryinus though. Thanks for the offer of changing my name but I'll stick with the horses for now I think !!!
  12. Were gonna get kicked into the tarts section soon TC!!
  13. Looks like a pleurotus of some sort . Its that brown, scaly stipe thats odd.
  14. I told a customer that I spoke to ' firewood experts ' on a forum and that what i had was what you look for in perfect logs!!!
  15. Was at B+Q Aberdeen today and the 6ft nordmanns were £45 , seems you got a good deal there.
  16. There is a great little book called ' The horse in the forest ' by Hans Sidback. Its a good little starter as its not to heavy going and quirky illustrations. British Horse Loggers Association I'm sure would have it or possibly Amazon. The Working Horse Manual is a good book aswell because it covers all aspects of working horses, from showing to ploughing and different harness configurations. This book is published by ' Farming Press '. Hope that helps a little.
