  1. I slag them off because the battery only lasts a day, which means it isn't mobile, nor is it smart. And just think, how many days work does it take to pay for one? Plus, they use cunning, forceful advertising to brainwash people into thinking that life cannot go on without one. To be honest, I'm sick of hearing about them, and along with the smoking ban, they've helped to ruin having a pint with mates at the local. This world, I tell ya!
  2. We don't know if it's essential for their survival or not. Yes, they may have become dependent on these labour camps for food, but humans are adaptive creatues and will find another way. It's impossible to live nowadays without being a hypocrite in some way or another. I try to do my best buy haven't made an effort to question how and where the clothes on my back were made. However, small steps do count. Gotta start somewhere.
  3. Local Investment Fund - Link
  4. Hi, Been researching grants for forestry equipment in Wales lately. Results: WEBS II (Wood Energy Business Scheme) - Link Only for yard equipment involving wood fuel processing, not forestry machinery. Firewood will be part of the business anyway, so have completed the EOI (Expression of Interest) form. Waiting to hear back. Amount: sky is the limit Local Council They've run out of funding and have no idea when the Welsh Assembly are next popping by for a cuppa, a chat and a handout. Local Investment Fund Have completed the EOI (Expression of Interest) form. Waiting to hear back. Amount: between £1,000 and £5,000 Match Funding Haven't been able to find any organisations that provide this yet. Anyone else got any funding leads, particularly for forestry?
  5. Nice one Lump. I suspected that was a possibility. If my accountant wasn't on holiday I could have asked her
  6. VOSA in conjunction with the police are evil swines. They'll take your vehicle without blinking an eye, leaving many high and dry. VOSA even require that horses need passports if being transported from home to show! Not sure whether biodiesel is a no-no though. You'd think it would be fine BioBuddy - All-in-one biodiesel processor kit
  7. May as well share it then because I'm dying to know. Geddit, dying Seriously, someone PM me the recipe, purely for academic curiosity reasons, of course. Although, I've read a few threads on the subject and nothing seems conclusive.
  8. I too would like to know what's wrong with alloy wedges?
  9. Just thought there might be a way to claim the extortionate VAT charged back on petrol if it was used for agri machinery, via some nifty accounting. I know, I know, I'm a dreamer.
  10. Is there any way to get a discount on petrol if it's used for agricultural machinery?
  11. I agree in principle with this, but researching every product takes time. Apple are well known, and consequentially are widely exposed to scrutiny in the press. Deciding not to purchase Apple because of the moral and ethical crimes they've committed is a good start, and if someone does decide to do this, I doubt they'll avoid being slated due to hypocrisy. I reckon that not buying Apple is a good start, regardless of all the other rubbish we haven't got time to investigate.
  12. Oh. I'm sure the max towing capacity mentioned was 8000ish kg. Could be wrong.
  13. Yes Chris, I'm discussing it with the seller at the mo. Thanks for the tip though.
  14. You mean that overly priced etch-a-sketch everyone doesn't stop blabbing about or fiddling with whilst you're trying to engage them in conversation? Bloody Apple. They've poisoned the name of one of my favourite fruits. Ref Steve Jobs: an apple a day keeps the...guess not.
  15. Err, how about child labour, not to mention the extortionate price that's kept inflated by the brainwashing witchcraft of the heavily pushed brand? How they can call a phone 'smart' and 'mobile' when it needs to be charged EVERY SINGLE DAY is beyond me. I have a £10 PAYG - battery lasts 6 days, minimum, and if it breaks (the last one expired when I jumped into the sea) I pay another £10, as opposed to £400! Apple products are just throwaway gadgets than have the human race by the balls, and I find it disturbing to watch. Sorry, I'm in a mood today due to the prices of forestry machinery and I have a special place in my blackened heart for Apple or it's loyal followers. Here's Tom with the weather.
  16. Out of desperation to buy a forwarder, I almost bought this today. Bloody glad I didn't as the ground clearance is only 20cm and the Mk 3 cannot accommodate caterpillar tracks. It will pull 8 ton though: Supacat , MK3, #28682 - MOD Sales, Military Vehicles & Used Ex MOD Land Rovers for Sale You'd think that 20k could get you a nice low impact setup. Keep on trucking, hey.
  17. 110 all the way, baby. Just fitted some 265 Cooper STT Muds. Cannot wait to run things over, once the custom storage units have been built that is.
  18. It could make the tyres dangerous at top speed I suppose, say 50mph. Would need to know speed rating first.
  19. That did cross my mind. I assume you'd have to cover all rear wheels with arches to make the setup road legal?
  20. A useful page with many links to forwarders videos: Best Business Training Videos - miniskotare Videos
  21. Say I popped over to Sweden to purchase a Bison directly, then attempted to bring it back by towing it on the ferry. Would there be any sort of import tax to pay? And by Bison I mean the forwarding setup, not the cow
  22. Do they have a disadvantage?
  23. Yeah, it's a framed webpage. Here's the right one: TAPIO Just look at that towing setup. Need a bucket to catch the drool Hu rah! Oh, and here's the spec sheet, in English: http://www.kranmanforest.com/BisonBroschyrEngNP.pdf Not sure about the steering wheel being an optional extra though. Will have to get the full price with all the necessary trimmings tomorrow.
  24. Was it this FC trial by any chance? http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/ODW712a.pdf/$FILE/ODW712a.pdf Here's a nice page showing all the forwarders trials by the FC: http://www.forestry.gov.uk/fr/INFD-7SUDZR
  25. I did request the Bison spec from Jim (lovely chap) of Caledonian Forestry, so will call him tomorrow and post some info. For me, the top contenders at the moment, based on price and low impact suitability, are: 1) ScotTrak OX14 2) Alpine tractor 3) Kranman Bison All are between the 21 - 24k mark and include a timber trailer with hydraulic crane, and unless the Bison is different, can all be split and loaded onto a trailer to be towed by a Landy, pickup, etc. However, if the money was there I'd definitely opt for the Alstor 8x8 (with all the trimmings) above everything else. Who knows, maybe one of the grants I'm looking at will come through.
