Hi all ive just got a hitch climber pulley about half an hour ago. It seems very smooth. The problem is that because my rope doesn't have a spliced eye the knot I'm using(bowline) is rubbing against the the VT knot on the hitch climber. Is there anything I can do about this?

This might sound stupid but why is Pollarding sorta frowned upon nowadays? How is it very different to coppicing apart from being done higher up on the stem? -

Ive only used western red cedar and have done it both ways but i found you got a better shingle radially, but i suppose it depends on the wood quality.

Why do you vary the width of them? I just use them like i would if i was putting slates on with a similar lap.

It can vary. I've been doing 12'x 6' but fir a house I would make them bigger maybe 16'x8.

Do you use dried wood when making the chopping boards, or can it be fairly green? What do you use flatten them? Chisels, planes....?

Hey folks im wondering could anyone tell me of an Arb course to do. Ive got a qualificvation in Forestry and ahave done my climbing tickets but want to expand my knowledge. Id ideally like to do something from home but quite cheap if possible, just something to get me a starter qualification. Cheers.
