    Does anybody coppice with willow? If so how have you found it? Currently the nature reserve i'm with has a large willow coppice site and we're trying to encourage the self-set ash and planted hazel. The willow is really useful for basket weaving and making small structures like 'wigloos' due to the flexibility

    If it's something that makes you more employable then it could be worthwhile, it also shows that your competent at using it. I've found that on many job applications for woodland management roles it specifies brushcutter/strimming ticket as essential

    I was recently reading through some journals and found an article on a new phytopthora species that has been affecting connifer plantations in northern scotland. The problem is that I can't remember which journal it was, possibly the Quarterly Journal of Forestry or Tree News/Sylva and also the phytopthora species was a complex name beginning with L. If anybody has heard of it and knows what it is I would really appreciate any updates as the affects of Phytopthoras is something i'm becomming quite interested in. Thanks.

    Hi all, I currently work at a country park/nature reserve in north Bedfordshire and the ranger is looking at the possibility of using horses to extract our timber instead of tractors and land rovers. I was hoping that somebody might be able to give any advice on any licenses needed and such and if there is anybody in the local(ish) area who was involved already, thanks.

    I don't know if it's financially worthwhile but recently I have seen more senior jobs in surveying and consultancy wanting the QTRA in the 'desirable' job criteria.
