  2. then I have definately over done it ive gone way further than 1mm thanks anyway and don't worry too much as the saw was given to me as a box of parts by a neighbour, I had a look over it and decided it wasn't worth the money rebuilding and buying new parts it needed so it was just a practice really! definately should have done a bit of research before I started but I will enjoy my new ashtray and don't worry I would never try it on a running saw without properly researching up on it.
  3. looks good spud i had a go with an 021 and fear i may have over done it what do you reckon? ive never done it before so i just got the dremmel out and had at it! i dropped the old piston inside the over day just to see and noticed theres a slight lip over hanging the cylinder plating on the inside of the exhaust port and its definately hitting it(if any of that makes sense) is there any way to get rid of the lip? dont trust my dremmeling hand close to the cylinder plating

  5. ive just had a quick look over the saw and have found a clear pipe coming from the top of the fuel tank with what seems like 2 springs inside but no plastic valve bit on top(not sure if you only get these on newer saws)? also it wasnt in the airbox it was tucked under a gap next to the air box ive tuned it to hell and back and it seems to start idle and rev quite well but just wont push a (sharp) chain through anything bigger than 6 inches in diameter compression seems good i havent got a gauge to test it with but is very firm to pull clutch drum/sprocket are fine fresh 50:1 mix in went to check the spark arrestor plate only to realise it wasnt there? good spark clean air filter and thats as far as ive got so far where abouts in hertfordshire are you spud? and do you charge an hourly rate + parts or do you price it by job? cheers James
  6. im having a very similar problem with mine ive noticed the previous owner of my saw put some completely black (non original) twist lock caps on the saw does anyone know if the breather should be in the cap? or is there an external one on a pipe?(that i cannot see) would it be worth buying some of the old style caps? (before having a look at the piston etc) thanks guys
  7. start a trend and get a pole saw i know stihl and tanaka(probably others) make them with interchangeable heads i.e chainsaw, hedge trimmer, strimmer all of which could be handy if youv'e got a big grove to look after?
  8. and break the zip the first time i wear them?
  9. has anybody tried the type A's yet? they look pretty good and i like the idea of having ventilation zips and on paper at least they look like a perfect size and fit for me has anybody climbed in them? do they stretch between the legs? im getting fed up off sewing my forestwears up between the legs after every climb fr jones are doing them for a good price atm too and before this turns into pages and pages of people telling me to buy stretch airs i cant afford them!
  10. basically wile out on a job i stumbled upon this bollard engulfed by a bush. its one of those plastic ones with the light in them operated by a sensor on top like on street lamps. The bush has covered the sensor meaning it is constantly on therefor generating quite a lot of heat. this added heat has made the bush flower above it. kind of cool? or just a bit soppy?

  12. i find the seated one pulls your legs together when your weight is in it apart from that its quite comfy well made and quite cheap to buy
  13. has anybody tried the new stihl dynamics?
