  4. Chorley, eased off a bit now but was really strong upto about an hour ago.
  5. You can hardly stand up in the gusts Here in the Northwest.
  6. Our local tip has a mesh compound with dozens of empty gas bottles, not a clue what they do with them.
  7. It burned very well but i had to give it to a friend as neighbours moaned about smoke drifting into their gardens:blushing: chimney only about 3 m tall, it really did kick out some heat, wish i had taken pics as i enjoyed building it and was quite proud of the result.
  8. I built a horizontal one a couple of years ago i cut the base stand off then cut that in half and welded them to the bottom of the bottle to form the legs then cut the door out added a 25mm flange all around and hinged it, below the door i just drilled 3x15mm holes then 100mm O/D wagon exhaust for chimney, hole cut with jigsaw keeping disc to use as chimney damper with some threaded bar, hope this helps, Sean
  9. Sorry but Imho i think all the pro immigration folks should take a minute to think of their children s futures rather than just seeing short term gains, as i say just my opinion no offence intended!
  10. We burn both Logs and Coal, but with Coal ovals delivered at £17.50 for 50kg which lasts a full week we dont burn as much wood as we used to, our coalman says he is flat out with delivery s and most is for the Ovals used in multifuel stoves.
  11. thanks Alec for the reply which i appreciate took some time and thought to put together in point 1-You seem to be concentrating on peoples motivation to work ect i.e the reasons why they would/wouldn't be better off working. My point is a very large proportion of the unemployed are in their situation not because of a lack of motivation not because of lack effort but a LACK OF JOBs available and the Gov/Media smear campaign is just designed to deflect the blame from where it really should lie. as for point 2- Theft is theft = wrong but in desperate time some will revert to desperate measures. Sean.
  12. Fair enough, do you have a view on the actual topic?
  13. Geoff, i don't get the feeling somehow that you are so sensitive that rule 4 needs to be invoked:biggrin:
  14. Thats an awful lot of words to say so little:laugh1:
  15. London School of Economics, part of the 'golden triangle' of British universities. Good heavens No obviously a bunch of pure cowboys:001_tt2:
  16. there's is always an excuse for those that don't want to see! also i note your location which may skew your view of the reality
  17. I think Skyhuck you and others may learn something from the link below providing that your view of the experts opinion isn't clouded by the media/gov lies/spin! http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/archives/29364
  18. IMO a large percentage of the UK population can only afford cheap Chinese crap, its the Benefit scrounging/Firewood nicking scum who can afford the high end Japanese & German quality gear:biggrin:
  19. Yes Sorry for showing my ignorance, not my field of knowledge as i worked hard all my life, although from what people i know tell me that are working F/T for the NMW "Income Support", "Housing Benefit", "Council Tax Relief", "Child Benefit" is the only way they can survive, are they to be held with the same contempt? (Child Benefit also paid to well off people regardless of income so i suppose they are on Benefits as well?) My point is dont tar all with the same brush.
  20. In that case you did in fact come across one of the wasters and i am pleased you found a great lad as a replacement:thumbup: its just that i find it sad that some tar all with the same brush.
  21. I have no idea, but i suspect the Gov figures are a lot nearer the mark than the sensationalist media would have you believe, end of day you either believe all you read or you don't:001_smile:
  22. Please tell me skyhuck if they are not on JSA what benefit you are referring too?
  23. I wont get offended, but by the govs own figures benefit fraud is less than 2% I also know some workshy tossers, but i think its a small minority, i personally know quite a few people that would kill for a full time job even at NMW!
  24. No offence intended Sorry if my reply sounded wrong but as i put in my post i do not agree with theft at all, all i said was that i think firewood theft will become more of a problem with the current climate ie Food banks ect, it just saddens me that people come out with comments like got the latest I phone and smoking 60 a day which i think is just media scandal mongering swallowed by the masses for instance 60 fags per day@ £7.50 per 20 packet= 22.50 x 7 days = £157.50 all on £71.00 per week Job Seekers Allowance, Of course this may not apply to OP.
  25. Oh dear another one that believes all that they read in low grade newspapers and is unable to think for themselves. sad.
