  4. Apart from the logs I've got Kennels. Wife brought this last year for me.
  5. Get well soon mate that fantastic kindling wood cant process itself!! Season greetings and a happy (healthy) new year to you and your family. ; )
  6. Come across this video and the knife looks like an after sale product going on the fact theres a lable on it...Its on the Wallenstein web site so Im hoping when the staff are back in the office I can find out more about its size/price. I wouldnt be putting it on a Wallenstein splitter but it looks pretty universal. Does anyone have one or used one? Merry Christmas.
  7. I appreciate the replies,I do have another business (boarding kennel & Cattery) that has been established 25 years,my Wife and family run that business with me,which gives me time to spend with the logs. The log business is solely me and over four years my investment in machinery alone is over 15k.I have built a Steady customer base,I wholesale out to two farm shops and I'm happy with the way the business is going but I would like to extend the season and I think Fahrenheit has the right idea especially dropping a polite email offering a "special" in the summer. L.
  8. When the madness is over and log sales slow down do many of you have a genuine outlet to supply logs to the public or trade? Or do you campaign to your customers to buy green at a discounted price to keep a cash-flow coming in? I have found in the past that that's it's not always easy getting people to buy forward which I can understand. I would love to know what others do to bridge the gap between the winters. Merry Christmas :001_smile L
  9. Welcome to the forum,I take it your looking to sell the nets on yes?
  10. Jon (on the cider) can you check you in box mate. L.
  11. I thought I saw enough mud at my place this afternoon...I'm so tired of looking at the mess that I spent 2 hours this afternoon just trying to tidy the area up.AAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
  12. HI John,a search on a Posch log splitter on the forum came up that you own one..I'm looking at buying a 30t to go on the back of the tractor (pto) there's one on Arbtrader that I'm considering looking at,can you tell me the pros ands cons as I would like to here from someone who uses one as opposed to someone selling me one.

    Many thanks L.

  13. Anyone know where I can get one?lol
  14. This would be a good machine for the kind of wood I process, there's one on Arbtrader and before I get myself carried away and commit to one would anyone with experience of these give me their opinion please.
  15. Sorry sent before I finished, bloody touch phones!!!! What I wanted to say was that new to buying bulk bag customers can relate to a dumpy bag because they have seen them around and are happy paying £55-£65 ish for it,because they are the figures they generally here their friends and neighbours pay, if you say £80-£90 for a 1m3 bag you are on the back foot and don't always get a chance to explain the quantity you are selling as they are already dialling the next log supplier! I'm going to keep going with the cubic metre bags and increase to £95 but I will also do a 0.65 bag at around £65 so I'm catching the Market at each end so to speak, existing customers will have except the increase or they can buy the smaller bag. I think with money being tight it's an idea to offer a choice ; ) L.
  16. Thanks for the response everyone,It's clear some of you are rigid on the volume you supply in the bag and im sure that over time your customer base know exactly what 1m3 looks like and what to pay for it...
  17. I'm selling 1m3 bags fora keen price at £75, Its dry well seasoned and predominantly hard wood.the customers that buy it love it .BUT the problem I have is educating potential customers that I sell a cubic metre bag and most of the local competitors sell 0.65m3 dumpy bag/builders bag for £50-£60 making my price (cube) seem expensive. I'm of the opinion now that maybe I should just go with the 0.65 m3 bag and charge accordingly. Volume and bulk bags seems to be a big grey area for the customer to understand, but want I want to know is do the majority of "you" sell your bags in 1m3 or dumpy (0.65m3) bags ?? Thanks L.
  18. Ahh I see, well if your making a profit and you and the customers are happy fair play to you. ; )
  19. Blimey Windfall you must be flying around like the milkman with those nets....is there no way you can get the customer with the small net orders to come to you and concentrate on the larger orders. I don't know the geographics on your area but nets are hard work, every time you move them your profit margin reduces. IMO anyway. L.
  20. Ben are you taking those orders out from the truck or out of the tipper??Just wondering if the tipper trailer is going to work yet?
  21. Thanks tapatalk installed.
  22. Hi all,can anyone tell me if you can upload pictures directley from your iPhone to the Arbtalk webite,I get to manage attachments but it doesnt seem compatable. To get around this I have to send pics to my email then save them to my desktop on my computer to upload....such a pain!!! Any advice appreciated.
  23. Ben,heres some pictures, the full load is 3 cube IBC cages loaded into the trailer and topped up to level off. The picture showing what looks like a half load is actually 1.75m3. I can take some close ups of the cage fittings etc when its empty tomorrow if you want just let me know.
  24. The nets had half round split logs in them with the smooth face facing out so I could only really stick my metre in the ends of the logs.(unless I got the logs out the net) I didn't buy any of the nets but local people who I have delivered to since have told me they have had a bit of trouble burning them when they had them in the past, slow to burn and hissing which would suggest more moisture than ideal. Be honest though when you first get a moisture metre there's not much timber that doesn't get tested is there...
