  1. I have burnt a lot of willow and don't mind it at all, great when mixed with a big lump of hard wood but one tip as Nick B said get it on pallats and leave to dry right out, split the sections you have if you have the facility to do so,if you just leave it on the ground it can retain the moisture and ROT from within.
  2. I dont want to hi-jack the thread and turn it into a mould issue but once your logs have mould can you get the sun and dry air back on them this summer and then have them good to go for sale for the winter ahead?
  3. Hi Robbo 110 theres about a dozen rings left from 24" down to 12"Im 10mins from junc 29- M25. After reading the comments though I have to say it was a mistake by me to think there was a bigger market for turning than firewood its a no brainer really,I wont let sentiment get in the way next time, thanks for the input everyone.
  4. Just wondered if it was worth looking at investing in a chipper and selling bags on as woodchip,Ive read on here people saying they process the main and chip the rest,so where does the rest go is it for bio-fuel/ for landscapeing gardens or just left in the corner as waste?
  5. Hi eggsarascal, I wont mess you or anyone else about and tell you where we`re at..I just wanted to put the feelers out because I thought there would be a market for the wood to be sold for `turning`so was hoping someone would come forward that is after yew in this quantity (level load on a trasit I reckon). If theres no real intrest I will process it myself and keep it aside for next season. I didnt put it in classifieds cos I cant put a price on it so was hoping for advice on the best way to value it. My heart is saying do the right thing and let the wood go to a nice home on the table with some nice fruit in it,but my brain is saying process it and LET IT BURN BURN BURN!
  6. Hi,I have yew wood that has been in my yard for around 8-9 months too good for firewood and so it was put aside for the wood turning folk. What should I do with now,its been exposed to the elements and is holding moisture, should I sell it as it is or should I put it away in the dry for another season/year as I dont know how it should be received for wood turning.
  7. Hi everyone,Ive been splittting a lot of wood this week but its not nice long lengths of cord but arb waste and its all shapes and sizes you know the twisty stuff you leave for another day:001_tongue: My question to you all is whats the best thing to do with pile of bark and small mishaped pieces that I have at the end of the day? Currentley I`m burning it because I love the smell! but am I missing an oppotunity ££££££££?
  8. Thanks for the welcoms...Eggsarascal I thought you would ask being from our neck of the woods,Im on the boarders of Brentwood/Upminster not far from junc 29 of the M25 where are you?
  9. Just an introduction to the forum really,Ive been watching this forum/CLUB for aound three months and thought about time to join in. Im one of those people that burns plenty of firewood indoors (two multifuel burners) and so became very intrested in what I was burning. I have a small holding and been making a small business from selling logs over the last 2 years suppling two local farm shops with nets and through them and word of mouth I supply bulk bags and tipped trailer loads. Im looking to expand this year with more investment in equipment and local advertising but will look forward to your views and opinions & comments befor I part with any hard earned cash. There is no doubt that the log game requires plenty of forward thinking and bloody hard graft but I have to say Im still as passionate about it now as I was 2 years back, I dont have any arboriculture qualifications etc so I dont move in circles where I can pick anyones brains or gain advice so its been a case of common sense and making a mistake here and there. This forum has been a breath of fresh air for me and helped me big time so thanks to everyone whose contributed to the site and I hope to meet one or two of you along the way, All the best Chris.
