This whole thread came about because a friend. who works in a fabric shop, asked me what tree I thought was depicted on a fabric that she and Mrs D were conspiring to furnish our little cottage with. And today the went to look at the gardens at Heaver, hence the above. Below is a picture of the fabric, so I would also like your suggestions for this, but I appreciate it is probably a stylised representation, but of what?

The leaves are about three to four times the size of our SB, and are much more sparse on the branch. Specimen on first post is in Heaver Castle Garden, so possibly a bit ornamental, I will look up white Beech
