Did about an hours sawing and the bar and chain was overheating took it back to the suppliers who after 10 days said it was fine and they had fixed it ,got it back and after 15 mins bar and chain really hot again see photos ,the oil is going down but only a very fine mist off the bar end at full revs with the oil control full open ,cleaned all the oil channels. my old saw used to fling a fair bit of oil off the chain but you have to look hard to see the oil from this is this normal for the 550?

We put quick couplings on both the hydraulic pipes just below the top joint on the back actor taking out the bucket operation ,leaving enough slack for the extendahoe I have a power cable going to the rotator which allows me to divert fluid from the rotator to the grab I hold a small switch in my hand which allows me to switch the bucket control lever from open and close grab to left /right rotate works really well I should have some photos of the connection in a week or so .

Got one on my 3cx with rotator ,works very well without the extra hydraulic service ,you definately need the rotator , not handling big timber any more so you are welcome to have a look Im in north Powys trouble is I'm working away till the 26th Feb .

Biochar is charcoal it was naturally produced by forest fires for millions of years If you go to the World Soil Archive in the Netherlands:biggrin: on average 10 to 20% of the soils are black carbon (source J Lehman Proff of Soil Biochemistry Cornell ) Why import terra preta when we can make our own ? You are very knowledgable on fungus ,Fungus You need to get up to speed on the what is being achieved with Biochar .Biochar can be produced by all the members on this forum easily and in the future could be another income stream for them. as an Academic I'm sure you consider this as grubby commercialism but we can't all fly desks

I hear what you say but there is plenty of poor hill ground in the UK that may benefit I have been running a trial with biochar on nursery grown Chestnut and oak started last autumn as yet no difference to the control but have noticed a difference in grass growth on peaty soils this could be down to the high ph of biochar reducing the acidity ,will let you know how it goes
