  1. Hi Ive got a husky 272s and got a new wheel 2 months ago.cost £160 dealer told me it was the last one in this country. You can get worn teeth retipped but I just like to keep a spare just in case Really good machine can get it in anywhere.
  2. Am I out of touch on this one bought a husky 338xpt after years of echo and boy was I unimpressed I remember the original husky topper at the apf show a lifetime ago not impressed then but spoke to lots of guys and read lots of reviews about the 338 and thought I would give it a try after all these years.Wish I hadnt, although a good price at £350
  3. Come on lads We all do it, we all have bad habits but experience lets us get away with it. I am an old timer at 53 but still going strong, taught my sons who now better than I am, I think rules and regs are good up to a point but lets get real, situations are different on every job and the man up the tree deceides at the time based on his experience and knowledge built up over the years.Very proud of my sons but all to often I hear dad what would you do? Never to old I am pleased to say. Maybe thats the answer, good communication on the crew and sharing of knowledge to get the job done safely. Stay safe.
  4. Hi We used to get about £20 per ton on average split between 3 man crew and equal share to boss for equipment. We made a living out of it but is hard graft. Now tend to do mainly domestic trees and thats what i would suggest.Try for groundsman job and learn saws and cutting to perfection before going into forest then you might have a chance. 5. hi all We used to run a cabstar dropside (non tipper) that was a chore. In fact we had 3 in total but ultra reliable.Strange but alternators went on all.Went to tranny tipper lwb after that but always a problem where to put gear on single cabs.now got a LDV crew cab tipper but usually weight of chip rarely is more than a ton or just over.Still it usually does a days work when on pruning jobs,But by lad we dont half chuck rubbish in back of cab. Take care up there Billyjohn
  6. hi all We are using an Ama top handle saw at the moment and having some trouble tuning it. It hasnt really lasted that long.Used to have all echo in previous years and they are ab fab, cant fault them.Just looked at husky 435t but have been told they are cheapy chineese saw with husky name.Might try a Makita as they were Sachs Dolmar and they as good as stihl at less money. Take care up there Billyjohn
