  1. I really like the way the guy shapes up sweetly to loft the ball over on to the toe of his compadre............. and then proceeds to slice the shot off in to the stands. .
  2. Last couple of weeks I've been driving pass this building site daily, noticing and admiring the way the East European Site Workers were busily washing down the entrance on to the road, clearing the mud etc, and managing the traffic efficiently and safely............... Today, same site. These clowns (London lads ) had a slightly different take on their job descriptions. .
  3. Blimey your early ! You were'nt kidding about slowing down for Xmas. Our four are due to arrive on the 2nd of December. Sourced from Elveden. Where are yours from John? .
  4. Hi Andy,

I am around on Friday, having an Arbortrack meeting at Heathfield House on Archway road around lunch time.

Give me a call, 07775703017 I'll give Cindy/Rebecca the nod, thay may like to join us.

Just so there's no embarrasment or misunderstanding, you should know that the Manager has got Arboraeration in this week doing some work around the woods.

    Speak soon

    David

  5. MB, that guy in picture 2 has an uncanny resemblance to someone we all know .
  6. Totaly concur with your thoughts Andy. How do we get our young generation to become aware of the sacrifices that have been made ? Easy for myself and my boys not to forget, as both my Father and Brother were involved in action in Egypt and the South Atlantic respectively. But society desperately needs a connection with past and ongoing conflicts, rather than just a bit of telly showing a bunch of greys who are so far detached from todays want it now culture. .
  7. "Tēnā koe" to you Phillip, and "whakatau" to Arbtalk.

May you find all that you "Kimi"

"nohopuku" to you brother Arb :001_smile:

  8. Great thread Tommy. Here's a good old one from my little collection. This one is the revised edition from 1949. First published in 1934. Interestingly, Le Sueur was the Superintendent at Burnham Beeches, where our team was working last week. Would be of interest to hear his views on the Halo prunning and fractures and coronets that were carried out around his beloved Pollards. .
  9. Liking it John, how big's the site, who manages it? I always try to make it into woodland around this time and in the spring for the bluebells. Lifts me spirits every time .
  10. Different species have different Habitat niches, with regards to the recent habitat creation we've been involved in, although deep within woodland, most were either road/path side or next to a watercourse, all with pretty open flight paths. Thing with Monards/Toppards/Pollards or Monoliths is that their natural cousins are more often than not felled, This needs redressing .
  11. Interestingly, the only trees lost to too much light, in the past have been old Oaks and not the Beech pollards, personally would have believed it to have been t'other way round This gradual opening up is phased over time with repeat visits and management. .
  12. Good point Dean, however that shots pretty decieving as the top and bottom of the fracture are completely apart and delaminated. Very Batty Friendly Indeed .
  13. Very nice Silky, like the colour. Not a criticism, but that would even better with a contrast incuding sap wood. How long did you spend on it? .
  14. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=2868&highlight=3998 Enjoy .
  15. Glad to see it being left, any targets to consider? Any ideas yet for the carving? Looking like Yoda to me atm .
  16. Scan at your leisure. We're putting together a new version of the "army of the twelve Monkeyd's" Very secretive, dodgy handshakes and some very strange practices http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=440 http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3483
  17. The Cams got 9.1 and x15 optical. Twas very gloomy under that there canopy. I've got loads to learn in terms of exposure etc. Thought that taking thousands of shots would be the way towards photo lore, guess I could do with getting me tutored .
  18. Outrageous, brilliant. You gone and got me blushing now guys. Seriously though children, don't try this at home. Only for the insane and disturbed Walter. E. Kurtz is in town .
  19. They certainly are John, and the marks quite handsomely marry up with the bat slits we added also. See annexe " f " on the new draft Bs 3998. Veteranisation techniques. It's all good baby. .
  20. Gaud Blimey Guvnor, that's butchery at it's darn finest ! All carried out in the name of Veteran Pollard conservation http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4092 .
