  3. Nice one, appreciate that. Looked to be an old lapsed pollard. .
  4. So vampires don't actually live for ever. RIP Cristopher Lee http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/jun/11/christopher-lee-film-dracula-saruman-bond-star-wars .
  5. Interesting work Hodge, looks well planned & managed. Would be keen to see how this oak fairs over the next year or two in terms of epicormic development, if you're ever in the vicinity & get the chance I wouldn't mind seeing/having an update on its progress. Ta .
  6. Reconsidering this stance now. These are a neighboring LA's street trees. Not sure I would go down the ribbon road (as they're not quite my colour ) But the bamboo wrapping works I think. .
  7. Saw this fine old veteran hornbeam at Kew today, forming itself in to individual vascular connections........ .
  8. Had the pleasure of Mr Kirkham around his play ground today, brief discussion (amongst many other things) around the fatality & risk management at Kew. Should be a good presentation & discussion on Thursday......enjoy ! .
  9. Nice chicken Ross. Was having a look for it up around the norfolk coastal oak woods over the last few weeks without success. .
  10. Well done for all the hard work The show has come home, long may it continue. .
  11. Cheers Paul, we'll update over the next few weeks and into next years new growth period as well. Bacteria is hopefully sterilized by the heat, the localised infection should cease and the tree will (again hopefully) start to callous over. Yes Gary, this has been inspired by Treeseers video & article examples, which I believe originally stemmed from orchard management of cankers in New Zealand .
  12. No decay Kevin, possibly just very wet soil, we've had a couple of trees subside like this in the vicinity, which have stayed root intact and continued to grow. .
  13. Been watching this pine slowly subside over this bench for about 5 years. Knew it would rest on its crown at some point. Not sure they are connected specifically to the people who's names are on the bench, but the same person sits on this bench almost daily. Could of felled it I guess, but opened up a couple of small windows through it for their viewing pleasure instead........ .
  14. Inspired by this cultural management technique adopted by Arborists in the US we've undertaken a crude field trial to arrest an infection of bleeding canker on Horse chestnut. We shall watch developments with interest...... [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oOIxUQqqro&feature=youtu.be[/ame] .
  15. was hoping that in our collective dotage we'd all grown forgetful of that particular incident
  16. Local journo penned an article around our tree management for London Tree Week recently. Part of the deal was to get him in a harness to get a feel for being up in tree. [ame] [/ame] .
  17. Sad indeed, the tree scape of the UK was undoubtedly beter off for Mikes involvement. My thoughts with those who knew him. .
  18. Mark, that's a given. Although in the interest of fairness, I think you should try to drink the Shiraz a little less like Ribena and a bit more like fine port Arbormonkey, unlike Mark and fine wine, you would not regret indulging in a piece of Arb ergonomic line placing history .
  19. Guilty on all counts, except it would of course be a 2010 Châteauneuf-du-Pape .
  20. tbh, it's pretty much the only way we can get shrek up a tree these days Essential tool
