  1. Over the last few months iv started getting pretty severe cramps halfway through jobs. Mainly my forearms and shoulderblades, making climbing and finishing the job painful. Tried stretching before/during the job, pain relief and a small fortune on deep heat, but I'm still getting hands like Jeremy beedle after a few hours Does anyone else experience this and if so has anyone found a way of stopping or lessening the effects??
  2. I'm just relaying what he's asked me for?? To clarify, he wants oak, cut to the specified sizes to build a yurt :-)
  3. ...Oak, I forgot to mention :-)
  4. I have asked to find a quote for a customer who wants to build a 'yert'. He has sent me a cutting list and the only place I thought of was here. I have an Alaskan but no chance I'm doing this lot lol. For walls and roof * 40*lenghts @*45mm by*25mm by 2000mm * 75 lenghts @ 40mm by 15mm by 2000mm * * For crown * Important to not have any strong grain swirlas and twist in general. Small pin knot in general acceptable. * *5 lenghts @ 150mm by 20mm by 1350mm Would anyone be interested in putting a price in?... Or giving me a ballpark figure so I can let him know? The guy lives in Warrington, so delivery may be necessary?? Like I said I don't want to get too involved but if anyone does them pm with details and a rough price and I'll pass them on to him. Cheers guys Nige.
  5. Cheers guys, they're mostly all commissions. It's a great boost to my business...if treework slows down there's always plenty of carving to get done!!
  6. That compound fracture bid made my teeth itch...yeah it was his own fault but jeez that must have hurt.
  7. That's grim. Tree getting him back for spiking up twice :-)
  8. All that and he was "pruning" after all. Winner :-)
  9. Ok that'd be really appreciated (although £20 a tip I can live with). At most it'll be 5 loads. Mostly birch and plane...1 will be conifer. But I can nip that back to the yard. On the last journey home!!
  10. Mixture of freehand and 2 in 1....the 2 in 1 is great for when im carving be ause it's a quick turnaround after I use my saws to detect metal hidden away....but you can't best a free hand edge. Plus there is s degree of pride from free handing (unless you've got +9ft of 3/8" to sharpen), then it becomes a "2 brews & 3 fags" job!!
  11. All sorted now, cheers for the PM's guys!!
  12. Hey guys, thought I'd jump on here. I have a collection of 30 or so trees and am fairly practiced in the do's, dont's watering and wiring. Chinease elm are great beginner trees and are relatively hardy. Firstly I would recommend getting away from keeping your trees indoors...it becomes a nightmare to care properly for them...they're trees they want to be outside. Watering is a big issue. Don't soak the tree if it doesn't need it, just keep the soil damp. The trouble is they can dry out rapidly in a warm house and the evaporation is faster than the absorption. As stated if your using tap water this won't be great if your in a hard water area. My personal advice is to get it outside. If poss under cover. My trees are all outside all year round ( they've been snowed on, iced up...everything a tree would get they'll withstand). If I can be of any help just ask :-)
  13. Great cheers guys, Paul I'll chase that up on Monday morning!! I take they do accept chip??
