  6. It'll remain a mystery, it isn't local to me so can't nip there for a gander. Asked the builder to check the tree for cones and none were found, but there was an alder to the right of it Apparently the building control guy said...fruit tree?? So I guess we were all right and wrong... Thanks for everyone's input though
  7. I've no idea, I got as far as alder with the cones. Might try and get there tomorrow and investigate further with my camera!

  10. yeah they look dry but clearly elliptical in shape, plus the picture of the actual tree doesn't look like any Alder i have ever worked on??

  12. Hey guys, problems with I.D-ing this tree. my two groundsmen have hijacked this once already, but they are now locked up for the night so its back to i . I do need to try and id this for a friend who needs to plot the tree on a survey prior to digging footings. Any help is appreciated.
  13. Aaggh!! Adam you anus. bad joke, not funny. your car is getting cling filmed!! The 'idiot' called friend inn my first post rang and descrided it to me, so i posted on here via phone. txt him my login so he could upload whilst he was at a computer and i am still at the yard. Just dropped on here and the filthy minge has had me off...in the most UNFUNNY way i could ever think of. apologies guys this thread is a waste of time....like my exgroundsman!

  15. Any trees with fruit very similar to alder? Will try to upload later but need some help, friend has asked for my help, the fruit looks alder but the pic of the tree ( can't make out leaf ) looks nothing like alder, leaves appear reddish? Any ideas,

  17. Council tree officer says old consent application says Ailanthus but he has it down as Walnut??? It is actually Ailanthus so I think Steve your the winner with the earliest ID. :-) thanks for all the help guys..... Gonna actively hunt for difficult suspects now, this was quite fun :-)

I have just spoken to the council and they seem to think its a Walnut??? im strugging between, Norway maple, tree of heaven and now walnut?? how difficult is it to tell them apart with just the stem?? or are there any tell tales that will give it away?? i might be able to nip to the gardeners yard and get one of the smaller logs they removed? the stems not getting delivered until friday now and its pecking my head to say the least!!
