Celebrating our first Christmas in our new house this year, we are expecting all three sets of grandparents for the big day, including my folks staying with us for a week. On the drive from Warwickshire to the west coast of Ireland two days ago, someone made the wrong decision and drove into my parents' car. The car is a right off, but both humans and both dogs were uninjured, as were the occupants of the two other cars, so things could have been a lot worse. The police on scene made it clear that one party of the three involved were responsible, so hopefully insurance shouldn't be a headache.
They usually split the drive to visit us over 2 days to make it easier, they are approaching 80 so you can't blame them. They put their time in over the decades, driving through the night and crossing Europe in a single push, so they are allowed to slow down a bit now. To save time before Christmas though, I'm waiting to board a flight to England so I can drive them over in their second car. Leaving at dawn tomorrow, six hours through Wales, 1410 sailing from Holyhead, another 4 hours across Ireland, and we should be back home by 10pm tomorrow. They've been living the high life in a Travelodge near Oswestry for the last two days, so they'll be glad for the change of scenery.
Anyway it's not so bad, if the other car had hit 90cm further back then there'd be a hospital involved at least, and probably worse. So you can't complain.
Merry Christmas one and all, hhope it all goes well.
That’s a proper mission, go steady.

An old man was eating in a truck stop when three rough-looking bikers walked in. As they passed the old man, the first biker pushed his cigarette into the old man's pie, then laughed and took a seat at the counter. The second biker picked up the old man's milk and spat into it. The third biker turned over the old man's plate before joining the others at the counter.
Without saying a word to the laughing bikers, the old man put his money down, got up, and left the diner. One of the bikers said to the waitress, "Not much of a man, was he?"
The waitress replied," Not much of a truck driver either. He just backed his big rig over three motorcycles!"

Every time this comes up Eggs and I give the same advice.
Minimum 13hp engine. Honda or Chonda. Either Interpump (best) or Antonio Reverbi (close second) for the pump.
Using a generator to run an electric pressure washer is utterly pointless- you’d need double the engine power than if you just used a petrol pressure washer. If you are going to be storing water in an IBC (buffer tank) then go for a pump that does 21l/min (at around 200bar). This is much better for cleaning kit than 15l/min at 300bar.
Although I always advocate Honda I’ve had a 20hp V twin B&S in my now standby machine since 2010 and it’s never let me down, oil and filters every 50 hours, roughly, and a full service once a year, its earned me hundreds of times what I paid for it.

If it’s in the Peak District it’s definitely got something to do with sheep getting bummed/farmers getting bummed by a sheep. Fact.
Your stomping ground?

When cleaning with a pressure washer flow beats pressure every time, go with a Honda as most are matched up with a decent pump that you can get spares for, couple of hundred quid secondhand of eBay and the like.

Paul McCartney was recently asked if he'd ever go down on one knee again. He replied 'I'd prefer it if you called her Heather'.
I’m having that for the boy's pre Xmas get together.

Anyone got contact details for John? I had his number but lost it when my old phone shat itself.
Last I heard he was in Somerset, happy to pass my contact number over if you don’t want to disclose John’s details.

One thing I'd have loved to have had when I was at school is a sweet little Gypsy tart.
Lived amongst them for years, never found one,,not for the want of looking…

I realise it’s an old post, if anyone needs a Hiab in the area next week we’ll be there.

Not from me it isn't, I have frequently said that most of the problem of climate change and pollution is down to the wealthy and that the cost of supporting the poorest, including inevitable fraud, is inconsequential in comparison.
The fact still remains, we choose, (if we are lucky) how we live. People earning/retired on good pensions should pay towards their scripts, at what stage of wealth do you think it should stop?

Perzactly 😀
Where does it stop, we’ve people sitting in million pound+ properties drawing massive pensions, still getting free scripts, yet it’s the bottom feeders who always get the blame for the country’s woes?

are “van-lifers” part of society though?!for some kids the school dinner is the only decent meal they’ll get, there’s much more to school than education.
Alex, Eggs, I’m being a bit presumptuous, but neither of you have kids?
“over here” spend about £100 a year in dentists, prescriptions, chiropractors, doctors etc and the rest is free.
(school dinners is obviously free too 😉)
I have a child, man now.

Now now Eggs, it was called national insurance because it is supposed to spread the risk of the cost of health care. Many of us will not have illnesses that cost a lot to treat in our lifetime so our contributions cover the cost of those that do need it. The trouble is as we live longer and medical science produces more treatments keeping us alive gets more expensive and the rich would prefer to keep more of their money so they can avail themselves of advanced treatments as in the american model.
In the same way I insure things I have to, like my car, and those things I cannot afford to replace like my house, the insurer picks up the tab for loss of a car and bets (because insurers derived from bookies betting toffs which ships would sink) that the premiums will cover payouts plus a very generous profit.
We all know that there is a generation that made massively out of this lifetime, I think they were known as baby boomers, some drew a wage from the state for many years, they also draw tidy pensions from the state, (admittedly they contributed to it) much more than some people earn for putting in todays graft. If you’ve got the money you should pay for your scripts. As much of a lefty I am I’m sick of people milking the system then blaming everyone else for it’s downfall. People with pensions that outweigh everyday wages getting free meds, I ask ya.

Well I'm not offering to pay for my meds; I'm on stuff that costs the NHS £1k a week! No, I'm not going into details but there are a couple on here that will have some idea.
Hence I'm massively grateful for the NHS, the fact that I paid NI for so many years and to those paying now. I salute you and wish you all a Merry Xmas!!!
£52k a year in meds and you think your NI contribution will cover that for how long?
You’ve taken from the national purse for how long? while no doubt drawing a fecking great pension.
Beggars belief that people like this post.

A 15A power pack is going to be right at its limit during startup and shutdown, worth a try if you have one but I think it will be under powered.
